December 19, 2014As was already stated in the intro to this post we recognize the outcome wasn’t to everyone’s liking, but changing the rules half way through would have been unfair to the current selection and winners. Not all of us got to see all of their favorites make the final draw including myself. Staff’s taste was so varied that very few candidates got sufficient votes, which wasn’t anticipated. So that’s where we can improve next time by either making the short selecting public or ensuring a broader selection, but as I said that’s a matter to address for the next contest not the one running.
Big congrats to all participants for giving it a shot including those who weren’t short listed and especially the winners for their effort and fair achievement!!
And remember how very dull the world would be without the beauty of breasts 😀

December 18, 2014Next time the staff should simply invite the artist they like best pretty much how this worked they showed zero transparency in selecting and I agree on the winning image nice image wrong contest to showcase it

December 17, 2014Perhaps in the future, set up a ranking poll or a rating poll. That way, people can vote on all of the entrants, and the artists can get more complete statistical feedback on their work other than, “quality sucks, staff conspiracy, blah, blah, blah…”
Also, maybe make the thematic requirements stronger, so someone wouldn’t be able to, hypothetically speaking, slap some pink on a piece that was going to be made anyways–except now there’s a convenient contest that they could enter into. “Emphasis on breasts” doesn’t narrow down the work done by XXX artists, like, at all.
A lot of the comments during this time have been way off base. There’s a difference between constructive criticism and knee-jerk outrage and speculation. I have never seen an open art contest with this much disproportionate outrage. Yes, there’s prize money on the line, but I wouldn’t even be mad if I didn’t make the “cut” or whatever. At the end of the day it’s supposed to be about the cause.

December 17, 2014Have to agree with most of the posts here.
First: Not all that crazy with the choices, not sure why their weren’t more.
Second: While the whole idea of the contest probably sounded like a good idea when somebody first came up with it, when you get right down to it you were asking the artists to come up with trying to make a statement about a disease that can could possibly fatal and/ or lead to permanent disfigurement by show casing female bodies in a to good to be true form.
I’ve always enjoyed affect3d but guys and girls I think you REALLY missed the mark on this one.

December 17, 2014Pardon my ignorance, but are the only forum threads relevant to this competition tid=4169 and tid=4322?
I’m trying to figure out what differentiated the ones picked for the final 4 versus that which were submitted and I am unable to use the forum search tool for some reason.
why
December 17, 2014The last poster took my thunder, very poor taste for this subject. I lost my mother inlaw and my sister inlaw to this and you have a dead girl embracing a girls brest…. as your top choice.
Looking over the other entries its no wonder you people specilize in frekish porn givne these were your top entries.
Did any of you consider the subject matter at all?
sad….

December 17, 2014i love gunnersteve, but this choice is horrible. were fighting breast cancer and his entry has a diseased dead zombie woman in it? eww…
the nerdesign entry is just…meh…
ikkicrazy image is boring typical porn, but the text, “i BLEED pink” IS JUST FRIKKIN GROSS what was he thinking?
moxydoxy entry is ok, the text is apprpriate for the context and hs talent is undeniable, i just wish his subject was hotter…
why wasnt work from x32 or mongo bongo or zen featured? didnt anyone invite them or lord kvento, or the arche 01 guy?
Lazy Fuck
December 17, 2014I don’t believe Mongo, Hitman, Lord Kvento or the guy who does the Arche stuff made entries, but no-one was invited to, it was just an open competition as far as I’m aware. Gunnersteve wasn’t even aware of the competition till I emailed him. Zen did give an entry though, which sadly wasn’t picked by the staff. I’m especially sad in the case of him because I was the one who badgered him to enter and I know he spent quite a few hours over-working himself to get the image(s) done, while he was already on the deadline for another project.
I won’t be advising him to do so in future, because there’s just no point when the final selection appears to be a random name from a hat, where quality and effort don’t appear to be any indication of whether someone will get selected or not. I’m not even referring just to Zen himself, because Osiris, Cesar and a few other entries were all far more deserving of final selection than Ikkicrazy or Nerddesign at the very least to my mind.
As to whether the competition itself was in good taste at all Mad Monk, I think it’s fine. After discussing entry stuff with Zen I was tempted to send an email to Jenny Poussin saying she should submit an entry modeled on the WWI Lord Kitchener British recruiting posters with the tagline “I want you to check me out”, the line being a play on the idea that lovers check each other’s naughty bits out before or during sex. I didn’t bother in the end, because I didn’t want to be annoying her, but I think such ideas can speak to some sections of the population and at least given them pause while still being fun and sexy. No, they wouldn’t be in good taste to everyone, but everything offends someone at the end of the day and so long as it does make some folks think and raises a bit of money I don’t really see that it’s in bad taste frankly.

December 17, 2014Hotter how?

December 16, 2014Clearly your contests do not require the same level of quality as your store products. May be 1 of these images could be equated to your stuff you sell. I feel for several of the artists you dismissed as not good enough. Honestly, do you really feel these wer ethe top images of the 30 + entered?
Your staff needs glasses or they need to stop voting for the people they know through online communications.
Several at least 4 images that were not put into the public voting were left in the dust.
In my opinion it’s a good way to stop having people contribute if this is what you feel were @the best@? And the thread was negative Vs a positive spin on a good cause gg
