What do you wish you had time to learn?
Sure, one can easily go read a book or do some online research. But to really know a topic, you've got to spend some significant time studying it. Alas, many of us don't have the time to go back to school, as it were. Is there anything you wish you had the time to study?
Me, I prefer to listen to classical music. Partly because I know I'm almost always going to hear something I've never heard before when I turn on the radio. I can pretty much differentiate between the various eras - Baroque, Classical, Romantic, etc. But for the life of me, I couldn't tell you anything about the "formats" of the works. What makes a "prelude" different from an "overture"? What exactly is a "tone poem"? Who decided a symphony would be broken up into distinct "movements"? Stuff like that... I also do a bit of birdwatching. Living in a fourth floor apartment with a view of a quarter-acre copse of mixed trees outside the living room window helps. I can tell the difference between common species of warbler; but I can't tell the difference between the kinds of trees out there. Yes, I can tell a maple from an oak. But a Silver Maple or Sugar Maple? Red, White, or Pin Oak? And how do you tell the difference between a Beech and a Birch? Somehow, I never spent any time on Tree Identification.... |

RE: What do you wish you had time to learn?
as a kid i had this wishfull thinking i could absorb knowledge by touching a book.
mind you, science-fiction (and transhumanists) takes this daydream to the field with uploads to the brain - instant knowledge. (french speakers should listen to https://youtu.be/WrrCTf8qyyc about *instant* thingies) i would love to know all there is to know (then i guess i'd be bored as there would be nothing more to indulge my curiosity). For starters i'll have some physics & the mind bending crucible of quantum mechanics, then add me some anthropolgy, and myths of all over the world; my main course woud have lingusictics & all the languages over, dead ones too, with a side of biology & dna understanding; for desert, ill probably join you on music theories & history of the arts, with a digestive of astronomy. but thats only one meal, right... |

I would also choose knowledge absorption, but i would go for physics, engineering, math, bassically the whole STEM field, maybe mixing in some other things just for fun, such a culinary, but mainly STEM knowledge, And go on to create the theories needed to build space ships, and then actually build one atleast.
Probably spend the rest of my life building the thing |
