It could be argued that one of 3Dx’s greatest attributes is its ability to show us things that are hard to find in the real world, or things that simply don’t exist and are not possible. And that’s why here at affect3d we like artists like Longyyy. From the artists earliest efforts in Fiona loves Zenal to his current 3D work in collaboration with real-life glamour model and all round cool chick Jenny Poussin (and of course his Sarah and the Freaks exclusively for affect3d) this artist has been pushing the physical boundaries and continuously making improvement to the quality of the art as time as passed.
Longyyy was happy to be interviewed by us and was generous enough to give us 2 pics unseen before now! So sit yourself down and read on for a glimpse into another artists creative mind.
Tell us about yourself. Where did the name longyyy come from? Where are you located at?
Well, I’m a pro freelance photographer from Australia’s east coast. I studied photography and graphics design at uni. I won’t go into too much more details as I don’t want people to work out who I really am. The name longyyy: It’s funny actually. The name was used by a group of mates that would call someone longyyy when he screwed up in a funny way, so when I was thinking of a name it was the first thing I thought of so I stuck with it.
You’re from the land down under is it true that you have kangaroos roaming the streets? And of all the weird marsupials, which is your favourite?
Hahaha. I live near the beach close to a major city and there aren’t any kangaroos roaming the streets here, but outside of the major cities, it’s possible to come across them. The last thing you want to do though is hit one with your car. Some are that big people have been killed by them. Around my home there are possums. They’re little animals usually found in trees. My favourite would be the kangaroo. It symbolizes Australia and they’re great animals when tamed.
How did you get started in 3DX? What was your journey to becoming an artist in the genre? What do you love most about 3DX?
I first saw a good friend of mine who I call my boss (because I get a lot of work through him) making 3D Art at this office. He’s actually very gifted at it and has contributed 3D content around the Internet in the past. I was intrigued by it and asked him to show me a little and I was blown away by the detail and content. I thought straight away I could make 3D models, use them for posing art, etc. So I got my hands on Daz about 2 years ago and have slowly developed my art.
Along the way I thought I could do nude work because I didn’t need to ask the model for a model release. Then I did some fantasy. I loved movies and art work with fantasy, so I decided to make a beautiful model and a vampire to screw her. As the saying goes, the rest is history.
What I like most about 3Dx? I can make whatever I like, whenever I like without asking or hurting anyone in any way in privacy from the comforts of my home. If I screw up a scene, I can go do it again and again and no need to bust my balls with camera crew or models. I can make characters of my choice as well so no need to waste time and money hiring real people.
The most important thing I like though is the fact I can use fantasy characters that would not be possible in real life scenarios.
Tell us about your main characters. What is their background and who is your favourite and why?
My Main characters are female models: Sarah, Fiona, Kerry, Kelly and my latest 3D Jenny Poussin.
Male characters Zenal, Freak, vampire .. and there are more but these are the ones I have used the Most.
My male characters are basically sex partners for my female models so they pretty much explain themselves.
Of my female characters, Sarah was my first and is modelled around a beautiful busty 23yo model I have worked with (not real name). Some may say she looks younger than that but she does look only 20yo in real life. She doesn’t know I have used some of her features and she probably looks very close to her real look. Fiona is another I have taken some facial features from real person, but changed her to look petite and busty. Kerry is a blonde babe I modelled using my imagination and Kelly is a cross between several of my models.
My latest model, as we all know, is Jenny (based on Jenny Poussin). She’s still evolving, so she pretty much speaks for herself.
My favourite? I would have to say both Sarah and Jenny. I’ll explain why.
I love both of these characters more so because they are real people and friends so I can relate to them more than my others. Sarah being my first and Jenny being my latest. They are both beautiful and sexy in there own ways, and both have great personalities (real). Sarah is a friend of mine that I do spend time with. Jenny is a friend I often speak (message) online.
The biggest difference between the two is I know Sarah in person but she doesn’t know any of this 3DX I do and especially of her. I know Jenny online and she knows everything about my 3DX and loves it and thinks along the same ways as I do.
If I had to pick one though, I would have to say Jenny. She’s sweet, sexy, and honest and is directly involved with my work as I am making series with her in it as we speak.
What advantages, if any, do you think your “real world” job as a photographer gives you when it comes to producing 3dx? Also what are the similarities and differences vs. real life photography?
Posing, styling, camera work, retouching skills and an eye for detail which are skills any good photographer has are a bonus and if it wasn’t for these skills, I think I would have still been well behind where I am today. That said I am still learning all the time and think I will never stop learning.
Similarities? I don’t think there are any in the sense of producing the work. Maybe editing as both are done using same software (Photoshop). The posing when doing pinup or glamour shots are the same: camera angles ..etc., On the other hand, I don’t need to tell a makeup artist, stylist, model or camera crew what do or set times, equipment and backup like I would in real life. In real life, a photographer needs to have the respect and trust of the model and in some cases are good friends that really help create great photography. I don’t have that with 3DX.
My Jenny Poussin character has changed that in ways for me because she is a real model and I have a good understanding of working models, so we have a lot in common. For Example, I work with models and she worked with photographers in the same industry, so I try in ways to have similar kind of friendship with her and you could say she is the 3D equivalent model for me. We have respect, trust with each other so in a unique way there are similarities with one of my characters!
Without giving anything away, would anyone reading this have possibly seen examples of your real-life work?
I have had work published and still do, so I’m pretty sure there are quite a few who would have come across my work ;)
Like several other artists, your work centers around beautiful women having uncompromising sex with an assortment of big ugly male protagonists, what do you think is the reason for people enjoying this genre?
Personally, I like the contrast between the big ugly and beauty. I think people love the fact beauty is dominated by the big and ugly and maybe they look even more beautiful. In sex scenes I think people love it when big and strong, large cocks ..etc are up against beautiful submissive women!
In your opinion, in 3DX is there such a thing as an “oversized penis”? How big would be too big?
I think it’s personal taste, but I think it’s only too big when you can’t work with it. I have been guilty of over sizing penis and found it hard for my poor models to open their mouths so had to re-size smaller.
Assuming you reached a sufficient skill level, and received enough interest, would you consider creating image sets for sale?
I think if I did a lot more 3DX and less photography and my work was in high demand … it would be great to make something out of it, especially when one thinks of the time that’s put into making image sets.
Who or what are your inspirations?
Well, my good friend (above mentioned) that first got me into it has been an inspiration and I would say my love for Fantasy Art is another. One of the first artists I noticed, I loved their work because of similar tastes and that really gave me inspiration to follow through in some ways realize I’m not the only one that likes it would be Zzomp. Today, Zzomp is still my favorite artist. I love his work and have from the first day I saw it. He also gives good advice and help if needed; he’s a good bloke!
What do you say to those who are grossed out by nudity and sex? Is 3DX good entertainment or are we all pervs?
I would say get over it. We are all nude at some point of the day and most of us have had sex. Well, I hope most have here. And yes, 3DX is great entertainment and we are all pervs in some way. Who isn’t!
Tell us the process that goes into your works of art. What are your tools of the trade?
First I think of a story, then I think of which characters would best suit the story. I build the scene then test the lights in the given scene then its posing, rendering and in the end Post editing work if needed. PoserPro 2012, Dazpro4.5, Reality/Luxrender, Hexagon are the many tools that I use.
Do you have any advice you’d like to give to any aspiring artists?
Like photography, look and learn from others. Surf the net for info and tutorials as much as you can while developing and never stop learning. Don’t skip through things and learn as much as you can with the tools you have, as most tend to think you need the latest and greatest software to produce the best renders. That’s not true. Its like photography: If I was to give my high-end cameras to an amateur and I used an amateur level camera, I would still take better shots! Skill level and knowledge is important.
Do you prefer V4 or V5, Poser or Daz3D?
I use V4 model base and, depending on what I’m rendering, I use both Poser and Daz. They both have good and bad points.
What genital props do you work with/ recommend for both males/ females?
With males, I use Jepes genitals. For females, I use Hot Beef by Darkseal, but I’m starting to use lali bits (looks promising).
What do you have coming up in the near future?
I have quite a lot, but time is limited. But in the short term (first half of 2013) I am working on a series with Jenny Poussin. It’s going to be great and I have a few more planned with her. I also have a Sarah series in the planning stage and I have a new look for Fiona as well. I am also constantly making a one-off small series and I will continue doing so. I also have plans to make a lot more content of my own, not just the textures but from scratch.
Any last words for our dear Affect3D readers?
Enjoy yourselves, get out in the real world and live it up. And when you’re a little bored, make some 3DX and visit Affect3D often.
