Ararza is not a newcomer. They’ve been around since 2005 with 33(!) works to their name, but I’ve only come across them recently somewhat intrigued by the promo for this film, which featured an interesting, dark and moody setting and a unique style of animation.
The Girls
Code-X features two girls. The models are fairly crude and have very stylized, cartoony features. They are still passable, though, and the tits and ass do satisfy. The facial features are almost cute, but really it’s the animation that will have to impress. And the animation is good in parts. The hair flows and sways very realistically and the girl’s general movement looks smooth and the physics engine was put to good use.
Thankfully there was a lot more effort put into the girls compared to they guys (and well… the creature). The guys look horrid in both an artistic and stylistic sense and strangely enough although it wasn’t the intention (I assume) they are very creepy looking, which actually enhances the experience.
Format
The preview promo (see below) is 4 mins long and apparently manages to depict the best scenes in a type of collage that works much better than the movies themselves.
What does the actual title include? The folder contains 3 CVD files protected by DRM, so you need to authenticate with your dlsite credentials to watch these. It’s a pain in the ass to setup, but thankfully you only need to do it once and from there it’s pretty smooth sailing.
So the three files contain 1 audio track and 2 video files. The audio file is labeled interview, but it appears to be more of an interrogation of one of the captive girls. The other two are straightforward videos. All three come with English subtitles, so you’ll know at least what’s going on given what little story is provided that is.
Design
The theme is about 2 girls in captivity suffering severe abuse. To that end, the movie delivers a gloomy brooding environment, fitting for the events that unravel before you. Both girls end up in a dark basement which reeks of rot and decay. They are restrained and sexually violated to the extreme. Well…one of them at least.
Let’s take a closer look at the two films (both of which are fairly short at 8 and 9.5 minutes):
The first opens with a scene of one of the ladies getting dragged across a corridor into a room and dumped on the floor. She opens with “Oh Crap! Just do anything you want! After that, I shall punish you severly…” so she’s still fairly upbeat, thinking the men want to take advantage of her and be done with it. She then looks up notices an electric chair in front of her and finally realizes the situation she’s in and exclaims “Oh No!!!”
They put her on the chair and start “interrogating” her about her friend. The interrogation method is a high amp shock treatment with small interludes of verbal battering. Again and again, electric current pulsates through her body, Taimanin Asagi style. One of the men stops to ask her “Do you realize what a bad situation you are in Girl?” before the seizures continue. After about 5 minutes of torture, one of the men asks her to be moved to another room. She’s un-chained and Bam! She side kicks the guy into the wall and escapes.
Um yeah, that is it guys. Just in case you haven’t noticed there is no sex. Not even nudity. Not even a nipple in search for a fresh breeze, but surely things will pick up in the second clip.
And they do. The girl runs deeper into the dungeon and must be floored by what she’s about to see. Her friend suspended from the ceiling held up by a creature with long tentacles, getting fucked by a huge penis looking tentacle. That thing moves so fast it seems more like 3 foot vibrator. Streams of sweat pour down the victims face and body. She’s completely drenched and we hear her thoughts of intense pain and, what do you know, pleasure. The creature continues to violate her turning her upside down and then over again. Everything’s in mid air while she’s hanging and swinging from the ceiling like a rag doll. There is no “nice and slow”. The penetration is hard and fast, not unlike the shock treatment her friend received earlier. But this time, it’s a cock fucking her cunt and ass. After several cumshots, she finally gets dumped to the floor and one of the men asks “What kind of torture do you wish now?” and that’s how it ends. Her friend is witness to it all (from a distance in hiding) but doesn’t intervene. Why? I don’t know, especially since her mission was to find and save her. Maybe she got off on what she saw?
Overall there is a “Saw” like atmosphere and intensity to the scenes unfortunately I’m not much of a tentacles fan and therefore walked away empty handed, because tentacles sex is all you will get with this movie. And although the intentions were honorable I don’t think they managed to pull through on the gloomy premise, can’t quite put my finger on it, but there was something missing.
Sound
The audio is great, from the eerie sound track to the sharp sound effects and skilled voice over. Everything fits the mood and supports the visuals well. The only gripe I have is that there should have been more moaning and groaning, but it does get pretty intense towards the end.
Animation
The animation is somewhat of a mixed bag. For the most part, it works quite well. The super fast humping and reactions of extreme excitement translate quite well for the most part. The character models themselves look somewhat bizarre and simplistic. Also really odd are the facial movements. It’s like the face is static, but the lips were photoshopped to move erratically. At least the girls are modeled well enough.
Verdict/Overall Impression
There are some interesting elements to this movie like the atmosphere, some of the intense sex scenes and some of the realistic and smooth animation. But as a whole, it’s hard to recommend this movie unless you’re a die hard tentacle fan and/or into torture. Mind you, the torture is not very extreme punishment and there’s no blood just sweat and sperm, which is a good thing. Overall, Code-X is very rough around the edges, feeling awkward and odd a lot of the time. I would only suggest giving this a go if you really, really like the preview video.
