(Hatoful Boyfriend is a fun dating sim where you play a human girl who goes to an all pigeon school. There, you meet various other pigeons and try to get yourself acquainted with them in various ways. The game take place in a year, so you have plenty of time to find love. The game is available at Dlsite and has been the top selling product since its release. And with good reason!)

(Hatoful Boyfriend is full of sex appeal. All the pigeons shown are all sexy to see. Sakuya has white feathers that blossom in front of you. Your childhood friend Ryouta is easily the best looking one of the bunch, though I do like the much older Kazuaki. They’re all so dreamy.
Though, I didn’t like the addition of the human forms. I felt like it pandered to the human players, but since you only see them at the beginning, it was fine.)
Coo (Design)

(The design would be great if I wasn’t partially colorblind. But from the colors I did see were bright and vibrant. The design helped to convey a joyous feeling and provided a few contrasts like the darker colors would be used for the dark areas. The backgrounds were various and well crafted, especially the statues. I also like how realistic the pigeons looked. It was like I was looking at one in real life.)
Cooo (Sound)

(While there’s no sound from the character themselves, you do get wonderful relaxing music that accompanies the dating sim well. The sound changes during the right mood. It will get eerie when you’re with Nageki or playful with San. It’s a really nice touch to an already amazing game.)
Cooo Coo (Gameplay)

(The gameplay is really simple and bird user friendly. You basically have a year to try to fall in love with one of the pigeons. The game gives you a few simple choices to make like which class to go to or what activity to do. Though, it’s very important to make the right decision because it does have an effect on the ending. The game is relatively short as you can complete it within an hour or two. While it’s not long, there is replay value as there as numerous endings, depending on what you choose. Though, you might choose carefully because if you mess up, you might end up with the bad ending. Yet you will have a fun time getting deeper into the game and learn from your mistakes.
