A title that states what to expect and conjures a set of expectations in the mind of those who read such a title. Dionysos, who created this comic (and the sequel), is doubtless a highly skilled 3d artist. Known primarily for erotic fantasy pin-ups and damsels in distress, this title marks a departure from the usual fare. So does this mark a change in art direction towards more regular sex from Dionysos? And if so, how does it measure up in the world of 3dx hardcore? Read on to find out!
Format
The title consists of five individual stories between 7 and 11 pages long in a single PDF document. The stories are illustrated with several panels in each page. Each panel is populated with comic book style speech bubbles containing the text of each character, a real attempt at storytelling has been made which this reviewer applaud.
The Girls
There should be something in this title to cater to all tastes with regard to women. The cast of fantasy females includes an Asian dominatrix clad in leather and PVC, beautiful ethereal Elven sisters, and a sexy crossbow-wielding mercenary, they are just some of the eye candy in the cast. Each of the girls is realistically proportioned and very pleasing to the eyes and also has a distinct and unique design rather than each girl looking a variation of the other as is often the case in 3dx.
Design
The female characters in this release is where the title really shines through, they come in a wide variety of stylish designs. Detailed character models both clothed and naked, lots of nice little artistic touches like tattoos, dirty skin, weapons and uniforms. On the other hand the design and quality of the male characters in the set however seems to have been something of an afterthought of the artist, their design doesn’t seem to have received the same amount of thought and attention to details as the women, but nonetheless are designed well enough for their purpose.
Unique environments, backgrounds and props combine to give a rich, high production value feel to each story, and helps to draw the reader into the story by creating a believable setting for each tale.
Story/Sex Scenes
A much less satisfying aspect of this title is the sex. Despite what the title may lead you to believe, there actually isn’t much in the way of sex! What little depictions of sex contained here are very non-explicit and the explicit pics are rather uninspiring. What makes this even more disappointing is that the artist has created some good stories/scenarios which would have been perfect set-ups for the “rough sex” the title promises, but doesn’t deliver.
Overall Impression
This artist has done a great job of creating sexually appealing characters and placing them in a well crafted story and setting, but as far the sexual aspect of this title is concerned this title is very much a disappointment. A purchase of this title may give you a glimpse of some sexy 3dx fantasy ladies, but if you buy this expecting a cover-to-cover hardcore extravaganza you will feel quite cheated.
