A while back I made an article about monster girls versus mecha girls, but now I’m feeling a little nostalgic and decided to look into a few stories about these automatons of fun. That’s when I came across Ozaken’s Believe Machine story and I must say, out of all the hentai I’ve seen to date, this is the only erotic piece that really left a profound impact on me.
THE STORY
Yoneda Masaru just went through a terrible breakup after finding out his ex-girlfriend cheated on him and like most people going through depression, he sought to drink his problems away. That is until he finds an unconscious girl lying outside his doorstep! Masaru brought the sleeping beauty out of the elements and prepared to call her an ambulance, but to his surprise, this sleeping stranger is actually a robot! Yuu is a high performance android designed to be as close to the human female as possible, but for some reason she cannot recall how she ended up at Masaru’s place. Much to our hero’s chagrin, our adorable android makes herself at home in his apartment as their life as master and servant begins.
Ozaken takes his readers on an engaging slice of life trip of a budding romance between a man and his doll. Believe Machine is a tale that has a little bit of everything for romantics: hurt/comfort, humor, and of course, lots and lots of sex.
THE GIRLS/CHARACTERS
There’s only one girl featured in this story, and that’s Yuu! Our loveable, yet clumsy robot maid has an infectious bubbly personality that’ll warm your heart as you journey through this tale of forbidden love. As an android, save for a few household applications, she’s designed to be a human girl. That means even though she’s artificial, everything about her was made to be “real.” She can touch, taste, and even has her own will and desires. There is one thing Yuu desires more than anything in the world, and that’s to make her master Masaru happy. The “features” she develops later on are just an added bonus.
Masaru serves as the comedic foil in this story. The “straight man” to his android’s antics. While Yuu is lackadaisical and cheerful, he’s more reserved. Initially he kept his guard up and used her to satisfy his libido, but over time, Yuu’s unconditional love and joy softens his bitter heart.
ART
Ozaken’s art style has a very pleasant appeal. With four eye-catching fully colored pages accompanied by a relatable narration through the protagonist’s eyes, he provides a great introduction to his readers that will keep their attention. I find his designs for the characters to be very intriguing, especially in Yuu’s case. Ozaken brings out many sides to her personality: the cutesy, the devoted, and the sexy. Each of these have their own style that corresponds to the story’s flow. His illustrations range from humorous to downright palatable whenever Yuu’s motor starts to run.
I may sound like a sap, but whenever our heroes do unite in ecstasy, you can almost feel the love they have for each other. It sends out those feel good vibes for you vanilla fans out there. I also feel that Believe Machine’s h-scenes touch base on a lot of fetishes and will even awake new ones as you read it. One of the fetishes that I’ve grown fond of would have to be full body massages!
LONG-TERM VALUE
Ozaken’s Believe Machine is probably one of the best vanilla love stories I’ve ever read. With his alluring art style and exceptional storytelling, you’re guaranteed to feel a torrent of emotions as he guides you on this feel trip. I highly recommend this story and be sure to check out his prequel Believe Machine: Gaiden too!
