3DX in the year 2012
We barely dodged world annihilation, seems the powers that be were busy watching porn like the rest of us 😀
It’s been an adventurous yet stable 2012. Business as usual in the East with the usual suspects and even some of the veterans like Fighting Cuties and Purprism contributing to the cause. Technically the best work in my eyes was Atelier KOB’s Dalmascan Night, which amazed with movie quality visuals and animation, yet it was also a letdown with their odd choices in fetishes and that ghastly male creature. Overall best work in my mind was again by Umemaro 3D, the new title ‘Pizza Takeout Obscenity’ featuring the busty newcomer Rika. Check out the many reviews for some of the other great titles released throughout last year.
We’ve also seen some good developments on the Western Front wish Blackadder’s 3DX factory featuring his busty heroines in peril spanning the gamut of lewd scenarios. Others have made their mark including Epoch with the development of the innovative Dynamic Comic Viewer as well as artists like Erogenesis. Also encouraging was to see the growth of great output from the established artists we all love as well as a long list of 3DX newcomers. Too numerous to mention by name but check out the banner links on the right hand side!
3DX in the year 2013
We’ve made baby steps in 2012, but I see a big leap for 2013. I think 3DX is still very much in it’s infancy compared to big brother porn. I don’t think we’d even qualify as a side kick yet. So with all this potential how do we actually tap into it?
Here’s my opinion on what could kick start 3DX to the next level. Crucial barriers have been crossed in 2012, that are setting the scene for the new year. The software is finally at the level where HD quality 3DX art is feasible, meaning the morphing capabilities, professional rendering quality and speed and other innovations in 3D creation tools and assets have put this in reach of the hobby artist.
So the right production values are now achievable, and I can’t wait to see what artists will come up with this year. One thing that could push 3DX even further is animation, of course this is a hard and long road to take with several dozens more elements to add to the list of technical challenges, but it would of course remove the static element and move it closer to porn. If we’re going to go that path though, not any old animation will do, it must be fluid and very realistic. Nothing hurts the eyes more than a beautiful body moving like a zombie/ robot.
Another thing is, when an artists creates an entire set, it’s often a struggle of perseverance. One way to tackle this could be working in teams, like members of a band. Where a modeler, texturer, poser, animator, etc work in concert to create works in a timely manner. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. If we get to see more high quality render, a bit more animation and high production values in 2013 I think we’re all going to be happy! Let me know what you think it will take for 3DX to move forward in 2013!
Big thanks to Supro and Fred for all the hard work with maintaining the site and forum, without whom the site just wouldn’t be what it is. And of course all the great artists who keep inspiring us and most of all the Affect3D community!
Have a great New Year! It will be a big one for 3DX!

January 2, 2013Here’s to a commercial chat alternative to imvu, second life, A-chat, Redlight, etc.
Superior quality, emphasized above by Miro and Fred, draws users who want the best.
Chat experience is supported by monthly fees, upgrades, and the need for accessories! We’ve all seen those models of success.

January 2, 2013You’re saying Redlight but better graphics and more interaction? So basically a ‘Second Life’ for porn, I agree that’s a good concept, the only thing I’ve found hampering the experience is the the fact that mmo type games allow for even less poly count than normal games and therefore the sexual encounters seem even more clunky, but something that’s likely to get resolved in the near future.

January 1, 2013Until problems such as time taken to render are solved, or proper animation becomes a simpler task, I think striving to achieve much more photorealistic results is probably the main area that any artist should work on.
I been a fan of 3dx since around 2003 and have loved seeing how the quality of the pictures has increased since then.
I won’t name the artists here, but I saw 2 maybe 3 images last year that I found incredible in terms of their closeness to what real-life looks like, and were amazing benchmarks of just how far 3DX technology has advanced since I first found out about it.
I really hope the trend continues 🙂

January 2, 2013Yeah I agree, if what you’re going for is realism, then aim for that first. Once you’ve got that in the bag go animation, comics or another more interactive medium.
