Realism in 3DX is not necessarily always the end goal, and with good reason. 3DX allows artists to create erotic scenarios and environments that otherwise would only be possible in our imaginations. Its possibilities are effectively endless. Whilst this is, of course, a definitive plus, it can also lead to inaccuracies or even deformations.
The Basics
Let’s take drawing as an example. The best ways to learn to draw people is to take live drawing sessions.
It teaches proportion, anatomy and movement. I find that with many 3DX artists, it’s possible to differentiate between those that have learned how to draw figures and bodies or even tried their hand in photography and sculpture and those that haven’t.
Just like drawing, 3DX still requires a base in reality. If it’s a still image this mainly means being mindful of proportion and anatomy. When it comes to animations, however, things can get a little more complex.
Moving On
As soon as you include movement, you need to take into account not only one pose but several. An artist needs to be mindful of how body parts move, interact and connect. That’s why the more frames you use, the more fluid and less mechanical the animation will seem. You’re allowing for a streamlined movement. It’s just like a flick sketchbook – the more pages and drawings it has per animation, the better it reads.
Slow and Steady Wins the Race
Slowing down an animation can be a good way to ensure a more convincing and appealing scene. Take this Media of The Day from early February, the elf varies her rhythm and the angle of her head. It creates a more convincing piece. Whereas if the two (or more) bodies are just hammering away at each other at dizzying speeds, the whole thing can become almost sickening in nature. Similarly, too much repetition can draw away from the eroticism or believability of a scene. Marie highlighted this in a review last year. Even if you throw in a couple more camera angles, showing the exact same pose sequence/movement over and over gets tiring. I dunno about you but if I’m watching a 3DX animation, I want variety and believability.
Lastly, pacing a scene and really building a scenario adds to the general appeal and sensuality. For example, if you’re watching a porno, and the actors go from fully dressed and not touching to butt naked and blowjob in a frame, it’s a bit off-putting. I still want to see the ‘in-between’ frames that help build the scenario, the atmosphere and general feel of a scene. This animation for example really builds up nicely. It’s both sensual and relatable.
This isn’t an attempt to put down the more hardcore stuff – on the contrary, it can be just as hot. For example:
I just love seeing material that has rhythm and variety to it. If an artist has really taken the time to pace out their work and make it come to life, it’s bound to be good.
