Let’s be honest here: It ain’t easy creating vanilla 3DX. With the full-fledged visual possibilities, a lot of customers seem drawn to more fantastical elements, whether it’s merely adding a dick to girl’s anatomy, or making a full-blown sci-fi/fantasy setting with monsters and aliens.
This is not to say that vanilla 3DX doesn’t have a place in the world. In fact, I think creating 3DX with vanilla restraints (non-DG adult humans only) still has a lot of potential. But how do we make it interesting? While some would suggest body modification, I think we can take a different, mostly unexplored route. How? By taking 3DX to the streets. Literally.
Spicing Things Up with Exhibitionism
That’s right, let’s talk about 3DX in public settings. Exhibitionism is the big word (seriously, that’s way too many syllables) we use to describe the sexual act of exposing yourself in public. This is not to be confused with nudism, which is a non-sexualized form of public nudity in controlled environments. We can go further in saying exhibitionism also represents any sexual act performed in public.
Exhibitionism may not seem vanilla, given it requires doing something that seems drastic. But in terms of actual sexual activity, you don’t need to do anything bizarre or out there. Even something as simple as masturbating is enough to merit. What makes public acts of sexuality so interesting is not just the thrill you get from being so exposed and vulnerable, but also the potential to do so in front of an audience. In 3DX terms, all exhibitionism changes is the environments used, not the sex scenes themselves. You’re still creating vanilla erotica, but you’re spicing it up!
Breaking the Law
Of course, exhibitionism is also a very uncommon aspect of erotica for very obvious reasons. Moral decency laws imposed by Christian/Islamic/Jewish sentiments make public exposure extremely difficult to enact in real life without risk. Even when people are allowed to expose themselves in a sexual manner, it’s often in a very controlled environment, such as the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. Even in music videos and the like, it’s very difficult to be naked in public. Consider Erykah Badu, whose music video “Window Seat” ended with her arrest in Dallas because she didn’t have proper permits to run around naked. Whoops.
In porn, it’s more common, but also very discreet. While I’ll let Garrett Hao go into the details of this someday, but live-action exhibitionist porn tends to be tame in nature, most often to avoid getting in trouble with the cops. Exceptions come from those that connect to the BDSM scene for reasons that are obvious, and even there they have constraints, such as staying indoors. Besides, studios would never receive the right permits for doing anything of that nature.
However, in 3DX, or even 2DX, we don’t have to deal with such trifling manners as cops or permits. Well, we can have cops, but only if we feel it makes things interesting. Instead, we just need a public environment and possibly a few people. From there, we can go anywhere with the concept, all the while maintaining a vanilla structure.
I mean, think about it. The simple act of sex in public? A lot of variables can come into play. Maybe the passersby will either ignore it, or get shocked then move on. Perhaps a crowd will develop and watch the action. Hell, you can get people in that crowd in on the fun! There’s a lot of possibilities out there!
A Rare Appearance
That said, you don’t see exhibitionism all that often in 3DX, or many other art-based erotica for that matter. If you do see it, it’s often within a BDSM or dark context. It’s rare to find it in more vanilla forms, even here.
There are some exceptions, of course. Lord-Kvento’s Anastasia and Eve series demonstrates the fun and limitations of exhibitionism. Granted, it does contain dickgirls, but it doesn’t necessarily defeat the original idea that it can apply to vanilla contexts. You can replace the dickgirls with guys, and the sex wouldn’t be that much different.
Or consider DB-Spencer’s work. While more pin-up based, the idea of public sexual expression is still fairly prominent in her works. Whether it’s out in an alleyway like Sunset Alley featuring Gojira, or an abandoned convention center as is the case with her currently in progress set A Night At The Con featuring Shelby, DB-Spencer definitely exposes the public to how hot it is to be both vanilla and exhibitionist.
Moreover, the potential for fun vanilla scenes in public is definitely there in 3DX. There are many modern world settings, both urbane and rural, which people can use to their advantage. And that’s all you really need! No dickgirls, no tentacles or monsters, no zany fetishes to spice things up. It’s fairly easy to create a set up for it.
On Display for Future Use
It may take some time to see more exhibitionist sets to appear for everyone. However, for many vanilla artists, this may be the best way to make interesting 3DX porn without having to rely on non-vanilla elements. Just remember: It’s a setting, not a genre. And don’t take the staring too personally.

December 7, 2016“Moral decency laws imposed by Christian/Islamic/Jewish sentiments make public exposure extremely difficult to enact in real life without risk.”
I don’t really think that simple religious influence has created “decency laws” for public exposure. I think, in general, it’s just not good for a society to allow people to walk around butt naked, particularly women, for far more reasons than just religious belief. No matter how sophisticated or learned we are there will always be people in society who will take advantage of such a situation if they can. Also take into consideration the possible biohazard situation one could run into. Not a pretty picture….

December 7, 2016While that seems logical, your argument completely ignores the long-reaching influence religion can have on a culture, and on behavior. For centuries, millennia even, religion dictated the laws of nations, since it was as much a political power as it was a cultural one. And often religion heavily dictates how people behave, more than anything else. Even when secularization began to take hold, the moral laws have been pretty ironclad in terms of religious influence. Obscenity laws wouldn’t exist were it not for the moral standards of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
Moreover, religion influences behavior because of their reach. People take advantage of situations because culturally, they’ve primed to do so. Religion influences that culture. My suspicion is that, in “people in society who will take advantage,” you refer to men raping women. Are men just mindless dicks waiting for opportunities to fuck? Or have they been primed to suggest that they can fuck whoever they please without consequence due to Christian or Islamic beliefs that suggest women are inferior to men, and that sexual expression is only available to the latter?
Influence doesn’t have to be complex to reach far.

December 5, 2016I’ve been experimenting with exhibitionism myself (in 3DX, not real life, cuz no one wants to see that) and one thing that I’ve found is that, the more realistic the environment, the better the final results. Walking around in your birthday suit in the typical i13 or Stonemason environment lacks a certain “thrill” from the act. I’ve experimented with taking pics of real world places to make the environments seem more lived-in for inserting the 3DX assets into, but that’s a nightmare for matching lighting. HDR images seem like the obvious solution, but commercially-available HDR images tend to feel too “staged” (a side-effect of how most HDR images are captured). I’m still messing around with various methods (The Voyeur DLC for The Art of the Deal available on my Patreon is one such attempt), but exhibitionism is one of the two or three things that I thought 3DX was lacking when I first discovered the art form. I’m hopeful to crack it eventually.

December 3, 2016Series with that setting in mind has already been in early setup phase for me. But I will do some others first, though it should definately come around sometime in 2017. Did you just read my mind or what ? 😀

December 3, 2016Perhaps. Maybe we should be in business together? XD
