Supro has been an integral part to Affect3D’s operation since the early days. So with his new release Kiara’s Debut about to hit the Affect3D Store this weekend, it was about time we sat him to respond to intensive questioning.
Who is Supro? And how did you come up with the name?
First off, this feels a little weird, doesn’t it?
There’s really not much about me. I’m just some guy who lives in the US that really enjoys 3DX and 3DX accessories. The name Supro? I didn’t give it much thought. One day, I thought “Supro? That sounds good” and went with it. I probably stuck with the name after thinking of it as a shorter way to spell “superhero” (remove the erhe). It wasn’t until later that I found out that Supro was a brand of amplifiers.
For those who aren’t aware, tell us briefly about your role at Affect3D and how very honored, deeply inspired and emotionally attached you are working for this site! 😀
Very honored? Deeply inspired? Emotionally attached?! What are these things you speak of?
Anyway, my role is officially store manager (getting releases out, working with vendors, customer service, etc), but I do other stuff like scheduling, talking with writers, setting up some articles, and other general stuff. Basically, miro’s right hand man.
Though, I can’t take credit for everything. People like Alpensepp, Morfium, recently fred5150 and others have done an amazing job in working on this site and making sure it’s running smoothly. I have to give them a lot of credit. Our staff isn’t the biggest, but we make sure to help out as much as we can.
How did you get started in 3DX? What was your journey to becoming an artist in the genre?
I love playing video games, especially wrestling games because you can create any character you want and play as them. I wanted to do more with the characters, but I couldn’t because you’re only limited to what the game allows (i.e. beating people up). When I found out Poser (and later Daz Studio), I thought this would allow me that freedom to do whatever I want.
For a while, I did a bunch of pics just for my own personal collection. But then I started posting some of them up on DA and people responded positively. When I started doing commissions, people requested porn. So I began doing that. But because of DA’s rules, I couldn’t post them up there. I tried using blogspot for a while, but there was hardly any traffic for it and I really hated the format.
Eventually, I got help from a friend and opened a site called Intrigue 3D (named after the first Lana pic I ever did), so I could post my more risque works. And that leads me to where I am today.
Has there been an inspiration to your work from inside or outside of the 3DX scene?
Okay, I know how it’s gonna sound, but miro is definitely a big inspiration. He’s helped me out a lot in my 3DX endeavors. I probably wouldn’t be here without him.
For the most part, I really find Kamitora to be the biggest inspiration. His artwork is just amazing. I really love the character designs, the sex scenes, everything about his stuff is just pure awesome. I’m also a big fan of Incase, who’s probably my fav artist of all time. I can’t stop praising his stuff because of how much detail he puts into his work. I look at his stuff and want to reach that level. Others who I look for inspiration include Legiocomix, Zzomp, DevilHS, looks-can-kill and Sparrow (the non super extreme stuff).
Let’s talk about your girls and releases. You have quite the roster, but your main character would have to be Lana. Tell us about her backstory. What makes her special? And why is it exactly that she only does anal?
So I have this character Justine. I originally planned for her to do naughty things, but for some reason I really like the character so much that I couldn’t find myself doing that to her. So I decided to create a new character, one that I would strict use for porn, which ended up becoming Lana.
So when I first made her, she had no backstory. Just a chick that does porn. But as I began using her, I started to get a better idea of the character. When she was young, Lana was a girl who you probably wouldn’t pick out from a crowd. Lana had some insecurities about herself (and still does to this day). Instead of staying faceless, Lana decided to take a risk on herself and do porn. She loves the fame and sex, but now she really loves the connections and friends she’s made in the industry, which is what keeps her going.
As for why she only does anal, what are you talking about? She does oral and tittyfucks too. 😀 If you’re asking why she doesn’t do vaginal, then that’s for another time. 😉
No surprise that your first release, one of the first in our store was ‘Lana Loves’. How was it creating a first title? What was your idea for it and did it turn out as planned? Were you happy with it’s success?
In all honesty, it didn’t turn out as originally planned. Back in 2012, I began work on a title (suppose to be a story within a story with Lana), which the remnants can be found in Lana Loves. I didn’t like how the title was going, so I scrapped it and began working on another title. Well, same thing came up with that one and I scrapped it (remnants for that also in Lana Loves).
So after a while, I decided to do something different in Lana Loves where it focuses on different things that Lana, well, loves. And I felt that it worked out better at the time than doing a straight-forward image set with her. I was quite happy with how this set turned out and it gave me confidence on doing more like Zoey Gets Fucked (Over) and Krissy Loves.
So we have to know about Lana’s spectacles aka glasses? Why do you think people hate glasses so much and why are glasses in 3DX the route of considerable evil?
Evil? If you considered sexy girls wearing glasses evil, then you must be crazy.
I should explain this to people, but there’s a reason why Lana wears glasses. Miro has this undying hatred for girls in glasses while I, a rational human being, love them. Miro loves Lana, so I decided to do a pic of her in glasses. It was to both prove that girls can be sexy wearing glasses and to also annoy him. He ended up conflicted. 😀
In any case, I really loved how Lana looked with them on. So I decided to keep them as part of her character. So thank miro for that. 🙂
Another of your characters, Krissy featured in a ‘Loves’ title. What is the concept behind the ‘Loves’ series? How did you change things up for the ‘Krissy Loves’ title? And will more of your characters be featured?
The Loves series is essentially my way of circumventing an issue I had in making a straightforward image set. Instead of focusing on one thing, I try to showcase different things about a character, things they enjoy. Basically, a bunch of mini sets combined into one. Do they like huge cocks? Anal? Breast expansion? Those sort of things.
It gave me a level of freedom from the linear story. I could be working on one part and then move on to another to keep me interested. Plus, since I wasn’t following a story, I could have fun with it. I could do a tentacle set or a futa set. Whatever I was in the mood for.
And yes, there will be more in the Loves series. I just don’t have anything concrete yet. I’ve had people ask about ones for Zoey, Cindy, and Fyre. Even a sequel for Krissy and Lana’s sets. So who knows which direction it’ll go.
Out of all your character who are your top 3 and why?
In no particular order:
- Lana because, well, it’s Lana! Big boobs, big butt, a cute face. What isn’t there to love?! I built a lot of my stuff around her because she’s just a fun character to use. She’s also become a huge favorite for many, which encourages me to use her more.
- Justine because she’s a personal favorite. It seems strange to list her since I rarely use her, but she’s the whole reason why I’m doing this. Once I find the right thing for her, I think she’ll become a favorite for others.
- Zoey and this one is interesting because I really didn’t put much thought into her when I made her. I made a punk girl for a random pic and reused her for another random pic. Essentially, she was a throwaway character.I didn’t do anything with her for a year until sometime in 2013 when I decided to rework her. After that, I realized there’s tons of potential in Zoey. She’s also another fan favorite.
So, about your new title. You’ve been releasing a number of teasers on your site and you’ve just now revealed that the sexy redhead Kiara is going to be a dick girl. You have been featuring solo images of dick girls before, but you haven’t dedicated a whole set to the genre as yet. What prompted you to go for it now?
I love futa/dickgirl, but I never did a complete set because it just didn’t feel right. I had a couple ideas for sets, but I didn’t think they would pan out as well as in my head. So I really wanted to do a proper dickgirl character first before doing a set. Once I had Kiara, it had hit me.
Without giving too much away, what can you tell us about ‘Kiara’s Debut’? What experiences await?
Kiara’s Debut is basically what the title says. It’s Kiara’s debut as a porn star. I did a short little interview in the beginning before she reveals to the audience her little secret. After that moment, her confidence (and erection) grows before she’s joined by her partner for this shoot: Lana. 🙂
Kiara’s Debut is probably my longest set yet with over 150 images for the main story. I really wanted to go above and beyond with this one. And I feel like I succeeded. Hopefully, others will feel the same way.
Will Kiara become a staple character in your roster? Tell us about her background and what was the idea behind creating this character?
Yes, Kiara will become a recurring character in the near future. She’s not a one-shot deal. The positive reception really told me that people want to see more of her.
As for her background, I originally designed her in a video game and decided to make her for my pornographic endeavors. I loved the look of the dark skin, red hair and green eyes. It was different from my original characters and really complimented the roster. I planned on her to be a dickgirl from the beginning, but I never said or mentioned anything when I first showed her. I had fun keeping it a secret and it threw people by surprise when I revealed Kiara had a dick. Some didn’t like it, but most were happy with the turn of events.
What’s your take on why dick girls are so popular these days? What’s the appeal for you?
It’s kinda hard to say. I enjoy 2D and 3D dickgirl artwork (no RL dickgirl stuff for me) because there’s the fantasy of seeing a girl with a cock fucking another girl and shooting a liter of cum inside and outside. And I think people feel the same way. They love the fantasy side of it. RL porn is enjoyable, but you’re basically limited to what the human body can do. That’s why people enjoy hentai or 3DX. Because there’s really no limits as to what you can do. Wanna see a girl with a cock? Sure. Wanna see a girl with a horse cock get fucked by a bunch of tentacles? It’s completely possible.
Just so we’re clear: I’m not saying that last one is my fetish. It’s just an example (my fetish is a girl with two horse cocks getting fucked by tentacles :D).
Along side releasing your own works, you’ve been doing commission work for quite some time. How does this type of work compare to producing a title? Do you prefer one over the other and why?
The main difference is the level of freedom. If I’m working on my own stuff, I’m basically dictating how it goes, which character(s) to use, what do I want to see, etc. Whereas with a commission, I follow what the client wants. Sometimes, they’re pretty lenient about stuff. Other times, they have extreme attention of details they want (like the angle has to be a certain way).
For the most part, I enjoy doing both equally. I love doing something for myself, but sometimes you like to get out of your own mind and see what others see. Some clients had some fun ideas that I really loved doing. For example, someone recently had commissioned Zoey interacting with their character and turning Zoey into a dickgirl. The idea was fun as hell and different. So I went all out with that one.
Tell us the process that goes into your works of art. What are your tools of the trade? How do you take an image from concept to final?
I commonly use Daz Studio and zBrush. I have Poser Pro 2014, but I rarely use that due to the interface. I plan on learning how to use Maya in the future. My render engine is Octane. It was previously Luxrender.
I usually don’t have an exact process. Sometimes, if I have an idea, I’ll work on it until I get it where I want it. There are times where I render a pic and don’t feel it or see a mistake, so I redo it. For a set, I normally have a base idea of what I want to do, but I let it go in any direction that I feel works best.
You’ve recently changed your renderer of choice from Reality to Octane. What are their respective strengths and weaknesses? And why the switch?
Both are great engines that provide fantastic quality. Luxrender has the benefit of being free with the plugin Reality costing around $30. It’s really good for those on a budget, but the render times are extremely long. Still, you might say the render quality and price makes the long render time worth it, especially considering the quality of the default Daz engine.
With Octane, it’s complete opposite. Getting Octane and the plugin will cost around $500. And since it requires an nvidia graphics card, that price could go up. I recently upgraded to two GTX 770s and it cost around $1,200 for both. But the render times are insanely shorter. A pic done in Octane could be completed in under 10 minutes whereas Luxrender may have taken 5 hours. Plus, I’m gonna say the render quality is better than Luxrender. There was a noticeable difference between my Lux and Octane renders immediately.
As for the switch to Octane, it was mainly due to the speed and quality. It’s expensive, but definitely worth every penny. I recommend either engine. If you’ve got the money or if you’re serious about 3DX, go with Octane. If you’re a hobbyist or looking for a cost effective renderer that still gives you great quality, use Luxrender.
Do you have any advice you’d like to give to any aspiring artists?
I know a lot of people want to create titles like G4E the instant they start doing 3DX. But let’s be honest: It takes time. It took miro years to get that damn good. It took me years to get to where I am today.
If you’re serious about doing this, get the basics down first. Look at tutorials and ask for help. Always work towards a goal and don’t give up if it doesn’t look right the first time. My early renders were god awful, but I looked for ways to improve my style and work. Eventually, you’ll get to that point where you’ll feel you’ve got this.
Do you prefer V4, Genesis, Genesis2 and Poser or Daz3D?
I prefer V4 because most of my runtime is V4-related. I do love the Genesis 2 model though. I’m thinking of switching over to it in the future once more content is released. I have both Poser and Daz, but I prefer Daz. It’s all about the interface (hate to say it but Poser is laggy as fuck for me).
What do you have coming up in the near future?
After Kiara’s Debut, I dunno. I’ve got a couple ideas in my head. I’m thinking possibly a superhero title with Lana or something with Krissy or Zoey. I have thought about doing another Loves title, but I don’t have anything concrete as of yet.
What are some of the genres you haven’t as yet worked with but want to try out in the future and why?
That’s a good question. I’ve rarely, if at all, done anything monster or orc related, so I’m thinking about trying that out. Maybe a demon perhaps? I also thought about doing a parody of some kind, like a Scooby-Doo parody with the girls.
Where can we find you online at?
Any last words for our dear Affect3D readers?
