My odd skype experience/scam attempt
I was on skype updating my picture when I recieved a "add me to your contacts"

This is odd as I never give out my name or address, and all my seetings are private, but it's a tuesday afternoon and I'm bored so without adding this person I IM'ed them, this is what followed.

[19:48:53] my skype name: I think you may have me confused with someone else

[19:49:29] Mary Faulk: heya sweetie hope i didnt bug u but i was sitting here bored and though i'd say hi...

[19:49:37] Mary Faulk: 25/f here... whats up?

[19:50:43] fred fredburger5150: are you just typing random names into the search?

[19:51:03] Mary Faulk: oh ok i was actually going to be getting|gonna get| to my "job" here shortly online. my girlfriend was working online and showed me when we got back from spring break

(this person claims to be from the UK, but uses the term "spring break"?)

[19:51:18] Mary Faulk: i'm still in university and i started doing these private webcam shows. i thought it was gonna be weird at first but it turns out i love it lolz. its really cool meeting all kinds of different people ya know?

[19:53:41] my skype name: oh, I get it, its that scam, where you somehow persuade me to get my clothes off, then claim I exposed myself to someone underage and if I don't send money you threaten to report me to interpol?

(the above is currently one of the biggest online blackmail scams going on)

[19:54:02] Mary Faulk: so hey i have an idea... i have a couple of free passes left to give out from when i became a premium member and if u want i can send u an invite to cum join me

[19:54:17] Mary Faulk: it doesn't cost anything and you don't even need a cam. the only thing is i need you to give me a good rating at the end lol k?

(is the above related to anything I've typed? no!)

[19:55:51] my skype name: say something directly related to something I have typed

At this point the replies stopped, so if any of you get a contact request from xoladie_brandiXX189 or something similar, you can go ahead and ignore it.

I've been getting a couple of those. I never accept them because they could be spam or scam accounts. But your conversation with one did give me a good laugh.

RE: My odd skype experience/scam attempt
I have never gotten one of those.

Your e-mail address can leak out if you ever use it to sign up for forums and such though because a lot of times those databases aren't very secure and something like e-mail is just stored in plain text and they mass sell them to spammers. That's why if you use one particular e-mail to sign up to websites they tend to get a metric fuckton of spam.

And that's why I just sign up for stuff with a spam e-mail address that I don't have to read. Big Grin
