(09-19-2016 12:37 PM)miro Wrote: that stuff doesn't really phase me personally, but I can't stand to have things get overly negative in my own thread because I wouldn't personally hang out in a thread with shit fighting going on, but I don't have the luxury of abandoning my own thread, well at least around release time, when people rightfully want answers, heh/ Totally understandable. This is essentially what ends up happening: You're going to have people that want you to post here religiously every other day like you did before you started doing animations, or every week on time, down to the minute like you did before the first G4E. They expect this even if you don't have anything substantive to deliver or say, just because of the rapport you developed back then. ...And if you don't do that, or you go for weeks without posting, or you're even as much as a day late? They're going to be on here every time posting about - Your passion is dead, - We'll probably never see another release - Feels bad. - My cereal was soggy this morning - You don't care anymore, etc. So then, the people who disagree with this are probably not going to post since there's nothing else to talk about, and nobody who's actually interested in a WIP thread for the content is going to want to take the energy to have a debate about things that aren't content. People who are depressed are just going to reinforce each other. So you either have a shitty debate over nothing between people who want an update NOW and people who really don't care about the timing, or a negativity fest, or both. It's not "wrong" it's just how they feel. But it's certainly doesn't provide any decent discussion. I honestly think there's no easy way to defeat this other than the pains that come with people adapting to infrequency, unless it regards a full product release. People have to adapt to a new norm now that you're running a full business in between full releases. (09-20-2016 10:08 AM)miro Wrote: I have a question. Considering the fact that I'm so busy atm, how would people feel if Marie posted here on my behalf? She's the extremely sexy voice of Tara of G4E and she's working on our social media stuff atm. So she's up to date on what's going on and i can give her wip stuff to post, etc... a lot more regularly than I can atm. If she's willing? I think that's a fantastic and probably inevitable idea that'll have to happen eventually. Like before though, people are going to have to adapt to it. I think it's pretty worthwhile though. Not just because of regularity but you're likely getting to the point where having someone handle your updates and "forum PR" to some extent is healthier for your schedule and for your mindset. Allows you to focus more on your work, and it allows someone else to take over the stress of using the correct wording and filtering useful feedback. There's definitely a reason positions like those exist. And it feels like you're rapidly approaching the point where a position like that is relevant.
