Ask An Animator!
So, I was asked to provide some animation tips in another forum, and thought it might be a good idea to have a place where people can have animation questions asked and answered generally, either by myself or (hopefully) other animators who chime in. If you have a question, feel free to ask me.
I should mention that I animate in Poser mostly using Daz figures and render in Octane. So, if you ask a Blender question my knowledge base will be limited. Getting to it, I was asked: "Any tips for animations, especially for the breast jiggle which you are the master of?" I responded with: As for tips: Be mindful of inertia, and subtlety is a good goal to shoot for. So, usually the first thing I move are the hips (action), then have other parts move from there (reaction). So if you bend the hip forward, the abdomen and chest will probably need to bend back accordingly. Then other parts move in line with inertia a little delayed from the main action. So, the hip moves forward, and a few frames later the neck bends back a little. The hip moves up, the boobs move down a little. Things kind of spiral out from there. As for subtlety, sometimes you only need to move things a little to have much more natural looking results. If your anim is 10 seconds or more, move the eyebrows a bit, swing the shoulder back slightly, and add some blinks. Flare the nostrils and increase chest volume to simulate breathing. It's those little things that add much to any animation. Oh, for breast jiggle: Once the boobs move one way, a few frames later they are going to move in the other direction (depending on body motion). For that I usually use declining-opposite values for movement by half. So, if they first move by 0.5 in one direction, the next movement will be to -.2.5 in the opposite direction a few frames later, then 1, then -.5 and so on. Usually just 1-2 rounds of this are sufficient. Also, manually making boobs jiggle is unnecessary if you can get a physics engine or script working on that stuff. I have found it faster to just do it manually than tinker with an engine though. |
