Since time immemorial – well, 2012, probably – Balassa has graced the pages of the internet with some stellar pieces. Even though 3DX can suffer from the occasional periods of staleness, Balassa seems immune to it. Like many of his peers, Balassa creates titillating works that don’t just tease you with a pose, but throw you into the midst of the mayhem. However, what really sets him apart is a combination of crisp composition and top notch quality.
His works don’t come off as the cheap one-shots you’d please yourself to on an off day. At the same time, his first-class pieces don’t feel pretentious either. They are the perfect eye candy for the kinky critique in all of us. So the overarching quality defining Balassa is quality itself.
Of late, he’s been experimenting with weather effects to get some very satisfying results. The extra mile sets him apart from artists that might just opt for the age-old glossy floor and stock backgrounds. For this particular piece, the rain, the rock and the foggy hue of the background really does the trick. The lighting dulled by the rain still highlights the girls’ moist curves. And so, the end product looks like a classy oil painting, and suddenly he’s transcended the fine line between porn pin-up to erotic art. It definitely helps that his experiments keep things fresh but don’t compromise the quality his fans have come to expect. This is where another part of his appeal comes in: Balassa is comfortably different.
In the 3DX community, difference will often be accepted and embraced; there’s always some fetish you can cater to. However, as every artist knows, you can’t alienate your audience. Appealing to just a niche audience can really stunt one’s growth and exposure. So Balassa doesn’t risk peculiar. He doesn’t deal in dickgirls and tentacles; so he will always be a safe bet for the majority of the audience. This is the crucial piece that guarantees his continued invasion into some many people’s favorites galleries. We’ll talk about this more on Friday.
