Yes, I admit I am a sucker for big boobs! I wouldn’t have it any other way! So it’s only natural that as soon as I layed my unsuspecting eyes on Cotton’s busty beauties I felt love…. a deep intimate affection… and a hard-on! But um… all blame goes to Cotton for having creating such heavenly creatures and drowning us in a sheer endless stream of alluring ladies one sexier than the next. I present to you a mere 4 out of maybe a couple dozen? In order Roxanne Rolls, Sami Sunshine, Gigi Johnson and Kyndra Lee!
Make sure you you check out his site venusislandgirl.com. It’s going to be a pay site but right now it’s free, so go quick check it out!
Tell us a bit about about yourself. What nick do you go by? How did you enter the 3DX scene and become an artist?
I go by the name Cotton in some form or another. It goes back to the days when I was an admin (wizard) of a small MUSH called Carnipelago which ceased to exist for various reasons. A MUSH, for those that may not know, is an online roleplaying environment or game, similar perhaps to Second Life, but much earlier and text-based. Every MUSH has some kind of theme and the theme of Carnipelago, which I developed, was based on a small fictional set of tropical islands that were originally inhabited by the survivors of a shipwrecked floating circus and carnival. That theme continues on into the imagery and writing I do now and all of my characters are parts of that story in one way or another. The theme lent itself to a nice mixture of whimsey, romance and seduction, and when the roleplay ended, I decided to keep it alive in some kind of graphical novel format. So when I began to get interest in software like Maya, Vue, and Poser, I immediately went about building out and rendering those images of Carnipelago and many of its characters that had been stuck in my mind from the earliest conceptions of the game. Getting back to the nick, all of my admins had names of candy you would find at a carnival and mine was Cotton, as in Cotton Candy. It stuck and I use it in all my online activities now.
You mentioned in a previous conversation you prefer the build up rather than the act? Tell us about your thinking behind this.
Sure. I’ll try. As much as everyone enjoys the act sex itself, I find that the most sexually powerful moments in life are the moments that lead up to the actual act. Once the screwing begins, there’s very little variety to it, even when you add in all the myriad variations, and I know there are many, but the result is usually the same: Orgasm. As an artist and writer, I prefer to concentrate on the forces that bring the sexual partners together, and in particular, I find that the more psychological obstacles (or taboos) that the partners need to overcome to reach that point, the more exciting the sex is. If you go back to the days when you were young and your hormones were raging and you had to hide somewhere to have sex with your boyfriend or girlfriend – under the bleachers, back seat of dad’s car – can you really remember a time when sex was more exciting? Even a little scary? Why do people have affairs? Many reasons, of course, but certainly the part that makes it extra exciting is the fact that its so very secret. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I’m sure there are many that know what I mean. The point is here that it isn’t the act or sex itself, but the circumstances surrounding, motivating and leading up to the actual primal act that make it more or less powerful and exciting. And I like to concentrate on that when I’m creating a story or image.
Is there any intension at all to venture into hardcore side of 3DX?
Oh, sure. I just don’t know when. I have some stories, or threads, subplots of stories that are leading in that direction the more I follow through with them.
It’s well known I’m a complete titties buff and without a question your girls like Roxanne, Kyndra, Sami, Windi, Andie to name but a few have some of the most awe-inspiring breasts I’ve had the pleasure of feasting my eyes upon. Am I right in saying you’ve got an affection for big boobs yourself? Noting that you do feature girls with small tits as well. What role do breasts play in your artistic vision?
Well, I’m glad you like them. I actually spend a lot of time on breasts when I’m creating or posing a character. There are few models out there these days that can give you that realistic sense of gravity that comes from large breasts so I spend a lot of time custom morphing the one human female model I use most, which is Daz’s Victoria 4. All five of the characters you mention are based on V4. Gigi is a Stephanie 4, but that is really the same mesh as V4 with some different proportioning. I love a set of large breasts but there are few depictions of them in 3D that have the correct “flop” or gravity. I’m still not really there, but I think I’ve come closer by combining some custom morphs and deformers to Victoria’s existing mesh.
I just love the female form, in general. Many of my favorite characters do not have massive breasts at all. The character I think is actually the sexiest is Princess Vala who sports a pair of plump, but very normal-sized breasts. But, again, its more than just her body that makes her sexy, it is her story, expressions, clothing, complexion, and most of all, personality and that I’ve just barely scratched the surface of, so look for more stories involving her. It is important when you create the pose and expression that you capture a little of what that character is all about and that, like I mentioned about sex in general, means that it is way more than just the physical body that makes a particular rendering sexually powerful.
There is a thread, or subplot in the Carnipelago stories, all of which I am racing to flesh out, that revolves around large breasts and how some of the girls on the Islands developed them without surgery, so they do play a part in the overall artistic vision. I should mention that there are really three levels to my artwork and writing. There is the overall story of the Islands, which is less X-rated and more of a novel, graphical or otherwise, that I am creating called “The Carnipelago Journals”, then there is the “The Silver Seal” material, revolving around a go-go club in Carnipelago, which are short stories, some humorous, some lurid, based on that theme, and the level you’ve gotten to know lately, which is the “Venus Island Girl” material which is a fictional magazine published in Carnipelago. I started by developing the long term project, which I hope to have finished and published or sold within the next couple years, and then found that some of the little side notes and characters were too fun to hold on to, so I started thesilverseal.com to sort of get them out there and to work on some type of graphical novel style. Then I found that some of the sexier, more lurid stuff had value outside of the long term project, the “pinup” stuff, so I started “venusislandgirl.com”. There will eventually be a subscription version of that and then you will be treated to some really steamy stuff, including hardcore, but with a plot!
But it’s quite obvious you’re not limiting yourself to just one girl, they literally come by the donzens? The more the merrier?
I’ve tried to stop creating more and just work on developing the ones I have, but every so often I need a new one to fulfill some role. I’ve actually yet to publish all of them. There are several more that haven’t been introduced yet, or some that have on TheSilverSeal.com but not VenusIslandGirl.com yet – and vise verse.
Who are you favorite girls? Do they have individual stories? Do they interact?
I’ll answer the second and third questions first: they all have individual stories, and yes, they do interact. They come in groups, sort of. There are the Silver Seal dancers who work for the owner of the go-go club, Pucky Luxx, the King of Clowns. That would be Kyndra, Umi, Roxanne, Andie and a character that hasn’t made it to VenusIslandGirl.com yet, Delcine. I’m refining her morphs a little. She looks too much like one of my ex-girlfriends. Then there are the Acrobats, who live in a weird communal complex deep in the jungle where everyone is a princess or prince. That would be Vala, Emie, Bee, Dulai, and a smokin’ little waif named Mitzi who hasn’t been on VenusIslandGirl.com yet, but will be. Then there are some from Moon Island, which is the lawless northernmost island in my stories, which features a completely corrupt girl’s academy that’s not as stereotypical a porn meme as it might seem. And from there hail Angel, Randi, Celia, and their queenpin (also awaiting her VenusIslandGirl.com debut but well-documented on thesilverseal.com) Iris, the Duchess of Moon Island. Then there others that can’t be grouped: Windi, Pia, Hollie Mae, Tami and Sami, Luana and Yoana Lopes, Gigi, Odete, Camilisa, Haelie Anne, Genna Bonducci, Fiona, and maybe a couple others. They, like all of my male characters (and I have plenty of those, too!) either come from one of the four tribes that govern the island or are washashores. Their group or tribe or both determine how they interact with each other and play a big part in their stories and sexual dalliances. One thing that most of them do share, though, is that they are part of a small, corrupt entertainment industry in one way or another. Acrobats, dancers, water polo players, etc. Did I answer the first question? Not sure I can!
And if you had to pick just one? Who would it be and why? What’s her story?
Oh hell. I just started a series on VenusIslandGirl.com featuring her, so I guess we’ll go with Kyndra. Kyndra is the home-schooled daughter of one of the most powerful men in her country, the leader of a cult-like tribe called the Ancient Keepers, or Giques. (Pronounced “geek” and fittingly because they are descended from the original deformed societal outcast circus geeks that were among the shipwrecked that formed the country.) Like a lot of home-schooled young men and women, she has a completely different take on life than her peers. Kyndra has no idea how incredibly attractive she is and has never really had to know, since she was raised, happily, in a secluded enclave on the far side of a volcano. She is naive, but also brilliant and born with a common sense that a lot of people don’t have. She gets discovered by an even more powerful man, Pucky Luxx, the King of Clowns, who convinces her and her father to let him feature Kyndra in a new, more polished and legit version of a once seedy den of iniquity, the Silver Seal. She’s never had a real boyfriend or really had much contact with men, and never really seemed to care. She was surrounded with animals that she adored and a father she trusted who raised her with love and a lot of knowledge that over time, comes in handy and often surprises those around her who see her as merely a typical dumb blonde sex object. As she goes from happy obscurity to overwhelming notoriety, she discovers a rapacious sexual appetite and needs to learn how to handle… and yes, harness it. And that she will learn from the second father figure in her life, Luxx.
She’s one of my first female characters and one that still drops my jaw when I see one of her pictures render out.
Talking of inspirational? Who are you inspired by? Have there been any major influences for you – other artists/ genres/ technology?
Not really sure where to start. I think as I look back at some of my twisted and circuitous story concepts, there must be some influence of both Kurt Vonnegut with a dash of Henry Miller. Walker Percy, perhaps. I should also add that I’m very inspired stylistically by the fashions and aesthetics of late seventies and early eighties. In fact, that’s when the stories I write take place. There is no internet and almost no access to mobile telephony. How news travels in my stories are a big part of the story itself. I can’t see Vala googling up dirt on Pucky Luxx, or Kyndra downloading PDFs for instructions on how to fix the blender in her houseboat, or Odete using a GPS to get her family sailboat home. Won’t happen. Vala will use her sexual guile to get dirt on Pucky. Kyndra will summon lessons from her industrialist and engineer father to fix her blender. Odete will use the constellations in the sky to get home. Much better stories, don’t you think? The mail in Carnipelago travels to its outlying islands by hot air balloon, and many still use homing pigeons to sent messages home to their families and superiors. But there are phones, radios and TV. And records. Vinyl. And platform heels and spandex! The best part of that era!
How do you approach a new project or a new girl? What tools do you use and what is your art creation process?
Usually out of need. There are a lot of ‘extras’ that do things like flesh out water polo teams or waitress drinks in a particular scene. So that’s usually how a character, male or female, starts out. I usually already have a story in mind and already have the key players I need, so I would be creating a new character nowadays to fill a supporting role. That’s actually how Odete was born – to be an administrative assistant to Luxx, and Randi and Angel – to flesh out Iris’s water polo powerhouse, and even Windi. With Windi, I needed a bombshell tv personality, then decided to expand her (in more ways than one). As I mentioned before, I usually start with a Daz Victoria 4.2 model and add the morphs I need to create her face and shape. I am a huge fan of Thorneworks who create custom morphs for V4 and Sami, Umi, and a lot of the acrobat girls started with facial morphs from their inventory of elfgirls. Then I expand on that. Victoria by herself does not have very realistic or attractive breast morphs, so I usually have to inject some custom geometry to get the shape that you were so kind to compliment. Every character has her own unique shape, just like they have unique faces, and lately I’ve been varying the heights and weights more. Haelie Anne and Tami, for example, are very, very round, rubenesque – Haelie much shorter. With Tami, the ferocious fisheries warden, her weight and oversized breasts are a big part of her story and personality. Gigi is the tiniest character (which makes her boobs look that much bigger!) and would probably stand around 4’11 to 5’1″ if measured in real space. And her height is a huge part of her story. She’s constantly being seen as younger than she is, and while that frustrates her at times, she also can sneakily use that to her advantage at times, as well. Choosing the right texture for the character is just as important, if not more, than their shape. I also customize each character’s UV map with Poser, often using python scripts to make enhancements like random freckles or tan lines. Tan lines are quite common in Carnipelago! I think they’re very sexy, but then again, that goes back to that late 70’s/early 80’s aesthetic.
I spend the most time on creating the sets for the renders I do. I tend to be kind of OCD about every little thing being in place and as believable and plausible as possible. There’s lots of little details that many people will never even notice, I’m sure, (like billboard signs way in the distance or odd little bottle and can labels on a shelf, even scattered garbage here and there) but I think contribute to the overall suspension of disbelief.
You also run a web site called Venus Island Girl? I understand it’s currently free and you plan on turning it into a pay-site as some stage. Tell us about the concept behind it and what your future plans are.
As I mentioned before, VIG is the third layer of the artwork I do, the sexiest and most lurid. Lots of tan girls in high heels and skimpy outfits. I love sexy clothing much, much, much, more than nudity, but luckily for some of my site members, I’m starting like doing nudes, too. And sex. I have some pretty hot stuff that will ultimately appear in a feature on VIG called Venus Island Confidential. And there will be taboos trampled galore, too, so it’s not for the puritanical.
I started doing this as a pastime, but have found that others enjoy my work, too, and I’m grateful for that. Like any artist or writer, if I can get paid for doing what I love, I can do more of it! So I will be looking to add some kind of pay-site to either theSilverSeal.com or VenusIslandGirl.com so you can follow your favorite character (male or female) into the parts that the free site “fades to black”. As far as when I cannot say, but certainly being featured in affect3d.com and the additional attention from that might hasten that!
