Gonzo Studios surprises and impresses once again with AZATHOTH, the next part of their Lovecraft series. Following a prostitute on a future Earth, this erotic imagining of H.P. Lovecraft’s short follows the original almost exactly in text.
A dreamer at night, longing for a different life on a different world, her nightly gazings eventually call something from the darkness beyond. Its visits are of the erotic, escapist kind, and she comes to join it, and shift her reality to find a dreamy union with the entity and more.
Or is she merely escaping into a reality of dream, before she commits suicide from the fire escape outside her window?
The whole set is visually gorgeous, with fantastic backgrounds and models and a mildly surreal style. It definitely straddles the line between art and porn, spurring more curiosity about what else Gonzo has in store.
Even though the set isn’t that short at 44 images (with text), it’s priced at a mere $6.00, making it a steal for the level of quality in its creativity. I’d get it just out of curiosity for “erotic horror,” but this delivers more on the erotic, art, and wonder side than it does the horror side. Three “thumbs” up.
