For those new to your work tell us: who is Vizivius and what do you guys do?
Vizivius is a small circle of like minded artists specializing in 3DX entertainment.
Your strength is animation. How important of a role does animation have in the world of 3dx and how does it differ to stills? Tell us about your approach.
Some prefer animation and others might prefer a series of stills. Animation shares equal importance with stills in that it should strive to constantly raise the quality of CG erotic entertainment so that as a community we can cater to an increasing number of fans.
As for our approach, it all starts with some brainstorming, ideas and concepts thrown around until it looks like something useful. Then our talented writer makes sense of it all and turns it into a coherent story outline, which is then “translated” to visuals–into rather difficult to decipher storyboards (yup, we desperately need the help of a moderately talented storyboard artist). Back to the writer for story elaboration and after that on to 3D. The flash department wraps everything up into a nice package and voilà… show time.
Unlike most 3dx artists you work as part of a team, what are some of the roles involved, is it easy enough to communicate and how does it compare to working solo?
More heads are better than one… without our team effort, Vizivius would simply not exist. We’re sailing the mighty virtual oceans with a skeleton crew of a talented writer, special FX wizard, well rounded programmer, a very sexy voice actress, an aspiring 3D animator, a few misfits… and most importantly ‘the money man’, without whom Vizivius would have been sleeping with the fish a long time ago.
Communication is a breeze, after all, we live in the Internet era, and working with a team is a blast. A well executed production is by no means a one-man-band show.
So let’s get to the big news. The latest release coming up is Spera Damno. First of all give us a little background on it. What is the format of it and how did it come about?
Ah yes, Spera Damno (SD), a tale of Machiavellian obsessions and karmic consequences. Mr Sullivan, our beloved writer, once said that “porn is good, but porn with a story is even better”. SD was conceived from the get go to tell a grand story, with a lot of hard core sex, but never the less story driven through an interactive Flash format. It all started with MotD 64 [link], entertaining ideas of how that elf girl (now Faena) got there and how she gets out. It all just evolved from there.
Tell us about the story and main characters.
As it will be revealed in Vol 1, Lord Excroc is obsessed with changing the course of nature regardless of cost. The main characters thus far are: Lord Excroc, ruthless ruler of Cartagina, and his son & heir Scorpio. As for the girls in deflowered order, Faena an elf healer, Katena the sheltered innocent human, and the short tempered Artemis, princess of the Kundai warrior clan.
This title took you several months to create. What were some of ups and downs of working on this title and did everything turn out how you envisaged it?
The downs would probably be all the frustrating moments when something would simply not work out, an unruly animation, navigating uncharted waters (Flash), or having to redo work that fell short… the ups, on the other hand, would be the moments when these pesky issues would be resolved. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s always a good feeling to see a project like this slowly come together.
What is the most exciting thing about SD for yourself and what do you think the viewers will enjoy?
The most exciting thing about this project for me would be the story driven aspect of the new Flash format, which thanx in no small part to Mr. Sullivan, the viewers will hopefully enjoy as well.
And the most important question when will it be released and how do we get our hands on it?
Come rain or shine, this Friday the 4th. And in an effort to get to know our patrons, we’re setting up a virtual stand over at our site. It might find its way to Renderotica, DLsite and even here to the Affect3D store, but hopes are high that by offering our work personally, it will give us a chance to thank our patrons for their support.
On behalf of team Vizivius, thank you kindly for the interview.
