I’ve always admired InverseKinematics for the imagination, elaborate settings and just pure talent he infuses into his work (besides the fact that he’s girls are sexy, busty and simply devine!). One glimpse and you can tell a lot of thought but above all heart went into each and every one of his images, the realism and attention to detail are second to none and so I was very excited to get the chance to ask him a few questions. Enjoy the gallery and an exclusive “Sniper Wolf” in all her glorious “wet t-shirt” beauty!
How did the name InverseKinematics come about?
I simply wanted a name that was related to computer animation, it has no deeper meaning. My account name on Renderotica was InverseKinematics, so it was logical to pick this as my ‘artist’ name as well, in order to avoid confusion.
How did you get into 3DX? Do you have a background in arts?
I worked with 3D computer graphics during my studies, but this approach was more technical than artistical. I don’t have a formal background in arts, but I spent a lot of time drawing when I was younger, and I’ve always enjoyed working with art and doing something creative. I also worked with 2D computer art (as a hobby) before I started with 3D adult art. It’s still a hobby, though, and everything I do is non-commercial.
Your style is very realistic and detailed? Why did you chose to go this route rather than say stylised?
Some of the things I did when I first started with 3D adult art was more stylized than it is nowadays. It was a deliberate choice, and I did it for artistic reasons. Later, I started focusing more on realism, because I found it interesting and challenging from not only an artistic viewpoint, but also technically. I think attention to detail is very important, because it enhances our sense of realism. But I also think it’s important to combine realism with aesthetics.
Would you describe your style as art or porn and why?
Both. When I started out with adult art, most of my work was clearly pornographic. It was quite explicit, with close-ups of genitalia, sexual liquids and characters in sexual situations. Later, I also started doing erotic, non-pornographic stuff, with more emphasis on indirect ‘stimulation’.
The two last images are quite distinct from the other images, both thematically and stylistically. What can you tell us about them?
I did this series called “Primal” back in 2005. The plot was very simple: Young female space-soldier gets assaulted and violated by monsters. As you can see, everything was over the top and rather stylized. The liquids, sweat, etc. was added in post.
What tools do you use and what is your work flow for creating one of your pieces?
My primary tools are 3ds Max, Vray and Poser.
My workflow basically consists of the following stages:
1) Idea/Specification: This is often the most time-consuming stage, because coming up with a good idea can be very difficult. I often start with a vague idea, and try to turn it into something more specific, using drafts and sketches. I also try to clarify what I really want to achieve or ‘communicate’ at this stage.
2) Implementation: I don’t begin this phase until I’m reasonable sure that my idea is ‘sound’. I purchase stock models which I modify to suit my own taste or aesthetic goals. This usually involves modifying the textures, creating new textures, ‘optimizing’ the shaders, modifying the model itself, etc. The character poses are done in Poser, and the characters are then transferred into Max. One of the most crucial steps in this phase is the lighting setup in the renderer.
3) ‘Debugging’: This phase consists of ‘testing’ the final image. Visual glitches or other aesthetic problems (that might have been less apparent in earlier stages) are dealt with at this stage. Sometimes I might decide to make significant changes, because the image doesn’t quite work as I’d hoped for. The final steps consist of post-processing and color-adjustments in an image editor.
What are you currently working on? What can we expect from you in the future?
I’m currently not working on anything specific, although I’ve been fiddling around and experimenting with ideas since I posted my last work about a year ago. I’ve also started using a linear workflow.
However, I’m not entirely sure if I’m going to continue doing 3D adult images, because it’s very time-consuming. I’ve been doing this for many years now, and I must admit that it has become more and more difficult to find inspiration and good ideas. I’ll just have to wait and see.
Where can we find out more about your work?
You can find more images on InversKinematics @ Renderotica.com. The gallery contains most of my more recent work, but now and then I perform some ‘housecleaning’ and remove ‘obsolete’ stuff.

July 30, 2011I’m pretty sure I’ve seen actual sex scenes, but not many. He seems to focus more on just girls.
