Oh my… We’ve come a long way since the polygon tits, haven’t we? I know our feature artist is Epoch this week, but today marks the 20th anniversary of Tomb Raider’s release, where it first appeared on the Sega Saturn in Europe. To celebrate this special occasion, we wanted to feature this gorgeous exclusive rendering of Lara Croft from DeTomasso, which he called 20 Years of Beauty.
I only recently became aware of DeTomasso’s work and I’m a bit surprised at how quickly I’ve become a fan. (Keep in mind, I’m a heterosexual woman.) For me, there’s just something about the way DeTomasso portrays Lara’s intense gaze that I find absolutely captivating. Her eyes really hold mine, even though she’s just pixels on a screen…It’s not everyday that still-image 3DX does that. I also love that DeTomasso keeps his Lara more in line with her character design in the Tomb Raider reboots. Writing for Affect3D, you can bet I love big tits. But there’s something about keeping Lara in the realm of believability that highlights her perfection.
