In The Light.
Lighting is one of my favorite aspects of the 3D medium. An artist can convey so much with how they light an image. More importantly, the artist can change the entire feeling of an image just by changing how they use the lighting. Does the artist use soft or hard shadows? Do they use warm or cool lighting? The artist must answer all of these questions, and more, before rendering a quality image.
However, even before examining those issues, the artists needs to know what kind of feeling they are going for. Of course, 3DX images are meant to excite, arouse, and be pleasant to the eye. But using simple and flat lighting is rarely enough to achieve this ideal result.
By using an incredibly bright light, and hard shadows on the model, Ziege58 creates an incredible contrast on this gorgeous model. The majority of her body is almost washed out with light. Without the hard shadows to outline her curves, she would almost certainly disappear into the wall.
Moreover, the feeling conveyed to me in this image through the use of lighting is one of excitement and vulnerability. This innocent-looking young lady, sitting next to a barely covered window, lets the light expose her completely to the outside world.
