There are times where we see a 3DX artist and are impressed by the quality in their work. When Lord-Kvento came to our attention, we were blown away by the sheer quality presented. From the top-notch renders to the very sexy girls, Kvento is definitely a name to check out! With his first release Adventure in the Dungeon out available at the Affect3D Store, we thought we’d take the time to talk with Lord-Kvento about how he got into 3DX.
Tell us about yourself. Where did the name Lord Kvento come from? Where are you located at?
Hello! My name is Ivan, I’m 26 years old, I live in Russia. My main activity is marketing. For me, 3DX is a favorite hobby of mine.
Alias - “Lord-Kvento” I came up with it. Originally, I just signed up as “Kvento”, but then discovered that someone is using a nickname on other sites, and I added to my name – “Lord”, turned out – “Lord-Kvento”. Alas ”Lord-Kvento” doesn’t have much through past that. It’s just a name I use.
How did you get started in 3DX? What was your journey to becoming an artist in the genre?
When I first saw this documentary, about the filming of Jurassic Park, I was just amazed that there are many scenes were made using CGI. I was very impressed! A month later, I bought my first program to create 3DX, it was 3d max 5!
While portraying the characters for me was a very difficult task. But one year later, thanks to the program “Poser” I was able to draw my first job with the naked girl. After that, I began to continually hone their skills and learn from professionals in the field. For me, it is important that the image was quality!
I do not like the work of poor quality, no matter who created it. Detail and quality is what’s most important to me. In 3DX, it’s important to do quality work. It is important to everything – lighting, textures, morphs, compose the shot, etc.
What do you find most fascinating about 3DX?
Most fascinating in 3DX, for me it is to I can create a script and stage the scenes. I also like to create an atmosphere of fabulousness in my work!
Adventure in the Dungeon introduces us to your character Elara. What is her backstory and her role in your stories? Will we be seeing more of her?
Elara – She vendor treasures and antiques. She loves adventure and she loves to fool around. However, it is a secondary character. But of course, we will still see her.
In the near future, I plan to release a long series of comics. My story of epic scale. There is a lot of different characters. The action takes place in a world where there is magic, monsters, good and evil, and of course, a lot of naked girls. In this series, we will see the backstory of Elara and her further adventures. At the moment, the script is in development. So that’s all I can tell you about this yet.
What are the other characters you have in store from us, female and male? What is your favorite look in a girl/ guy?
By far my favorite – this girl! And as I said earlier, we will see more adventurous and exciting scenes featuring her in the near future.
Your style is somewhat akin Blackadder. Is that the look you’re going for? How would describe your style? What makes it unique?
Yes indeed, I have great respect for Blackadder and his style. He made a strong impression on me! Nevertheless, our styles differ. In Blackadder, it’s awesome realism. His work is very similar to the pictures.
However, for me realism is second. For me, it’s important that the picture is beautiful! It’s important for me to bring the atmosphere and mood to the image. I wish that the viewer immersed in this atmosphere. But realism prevents me from conveying that kind of mood. In this case, I have to sacrifice a little realism to get them drawn.
You seem to have an interest in monster sex? What is the appeal for you? Why do you think it’s so popular and why have you chosen it as one of your main subjects?
Yes, indeed, the genre monster sex, I love it.
What I love about the genre is that it’s not real. It’s something that doesn’t exist in real life. I think that’s why the genre is so popular. There is some special magic to it. Everyone is afraid of monsters. They are not attractive to people, but like humans, they have a need for sex. Sometimes, they have to be cunning to get what they want.
We all hear about childhood monsters in fairy tales. We see them in movies. Portray them in different situations in different ways, but we never see, in the movies, sex monster. This creates a gap in their lives and gives them a mystery. And as we know, we are attracted by all the secret.
That is why I chose the genre of monster sex as its main drawing genre!
What other styles if any are you looking to explore and why?
I’ve always been interested in the style of black and white sketches. I like this style as it always leaves a lot of room for imagination. Everyone comes up with the atmosphere and environment itself, and is not limited to the style of the artist.
Who or what else inspires you? And who are your favorite artists and why?
I was always inspired by the epic scale and high quality movies such as Lord of the Rings. They have a philosophy and a whole world of boundless imagination!
My favorite artists:
3D: Blackadder, Hitman X3Z
2D: BenMorbez, DrGraevling, Personalami
All these artists make high quality, have their own style, and they have a great imagination!
Tell us the process that goes into your works of art. What are your tools of the trade?
First, I create a script, then choose the environmental scene in Daz Studio and export it into the program Cinema 4d. After that I create a pose for each frame, and exporting them to the program Cinema 4d for the final work. Next, I pre-set materials, puts the camera and light. Then I produce the final configuration of materials and light. Then send the project to render. Once the images are ready, I make the final processing in Photoshop, and you’re done!
In my work I use: Daz Studio 4.6; Zbrush 4R6; Cinema 4d R15 physical renderer; Photoshop CS6.
You mentioned using the Cinema 4D’s default renderer. The quality you’re achieving is quite amazing. Is it mostly with straight up rendering or is there a lot of post work involved and if so what do you do to enhance your renders?
I try to do most of the work with the help of Cinema 4d and physical rendering. I need post processing for color correction.
Do you have any advice you’d like to give to any aspiring artists?
First thing that’s important is look for your own style! Do what exactly do you like! And most importantly, do a quality job!
Do less images, but with high quality. It is better than doing a bunch, but with terrible quality! Also, always make a script. Think over your character: Who he is, what he went through, etc.
And always seeking to improve!
Do you prefer V4, V5, V6, Poser or Daz3D? How do you import into Cinema 4D? What genital props do you work with/ recommend for both males/ females?
For a long time I worked with V4, but it had bad anatomy. So now I’m working with the V6. For the male characters, I normally use the standard genitals from M5/M6, but I create custom morphs in Zbrush. And for the V6, I use 3feetwolf’s New Genitalia For Victoria 6 and also create custom morphs for them in Zbrush.
I like Daz studio, but there are also a lot I find useful in Poser that attracts me. To import into Cinema 4D plugin, I use “InterPoser Pro” v 1.9.
What do you have coming up in the near future?
In the near future, I will introduce the first comic book that shows the beginning of a dangerous and mysterious adventures of a new character. It will be the first head of the long history of the wizarding world and the new adventures of the heroine …
Where can we find you online at?
My works can be found over on Deviant-Art and Hentai-Foundry for the adult stuff.
Any last words for our dear Affect3D readers?
I hope everyone’s in a good mood! Until next time!
