Nice to see that we are only four weeks away for the DLC release. I’ve been a fan of the Girlfriend 4 Ever work since I discovered earlier this year, and was waiting for the DLCs all these months. Many people are a bit upset about this DLC taking so long, but I’m not (ok, maybe because I waited “only” eight/nine months or so). I know that quality takes time, a long time if you want to do it REALLY well, especially if it’s not a product made with dozens and a hundred people behind it.

If I’m not mistaken, Miro has some people working in this with him (especially the audio part), but models and animation are mostly Miro’s doing. And it’s a masterpiece work. We can complain all we want about the time spent and bla bla bla; in the end, we all end up enjoying his awesome work that Miro worked day and night. And we should give him credit for that at least. Probably many of us wouldn’t be willing to even spend half the time or the resources needed for this so, props to him.

Good work Miro! Keep it up! I’m sure I’ll enjoy the next adventure of Tara and Sayako 😀

PD: I always hated that, in entertainment industry, sometimes it seems that us the consumers want to be the one to tell creators what, how and when to do things. That should NEVER be the case. They don’t have to fulfill your desires or whatever. The only responsibility that creators have when they sell their works, is to communicate properly what are their products about without second-meanings or half-truths, which I know is a problem with some companies. Whoever planned the original Girlfriends 4 Ever obviously believed they had an unlimited budget.

The original work was indulgent in an extremely savvy way. Someday I will stop fapping long enough to publish a master’s-level thesis that artculates the concept of the 3rd-standard-deviation in the aesthetics. The original Girlfriends 4 Ever was better than every other animated pornographic work available on the internet, and in every single dimension along which any previous work had ever attempted to stake a claim. Historically, some works have successfully established themselves according to some one kind of excellence. Girlfriends 4 Ever beats every single one of them, hands-down, on the incumbent’s terms. Unless you squicked over the futa, this one really blew you away. You saved it somewhere on your computer that you would remember.

It was a never-before-seen masterwork, built from the ground up in pursuit of its prurient potential. This thing was planned to be the single-largest deposit into millions of spank banks across the globe. There were extremely attractive models. They were rendered exceptionally well. There’s some really enjoyable EDM-stripper music, of high audio quality. These are really good stills, and the Ken Burns effect is being used pretty damn effectively. Holy shit, it’s some loop 3D-animation; the Burns Barrier has been broken. Damn, no matter how long this loop lasts, this is easily the best animation out there.

Holy shit jesus christ, there is a really sexy girl who is obviously as turned-on as I am, and who is obviously saying custom dialog. Ohmygod she sound sexy and her voice is like a naked woman in a dimly-lit room, writhing seductively against a rippling satin sea. She is talking about how tonight is going to be amazing and I absolutely believe every single word she is saying. Somewhere there is a god and apparently we have exactly the same turn-ons. I hope this never ends.

At this point you’re like 30 seconds in and you’ve already decided that this will be the best thing you’ve ever seen even if the movie suddenly breaks the flash player so badly you have to restart your computer. If that scrubber-thing works at all, you can totally figure out to have to have a pretty mad orgasm in just the 30-ish seconds you’ve already been given. OMG I hope this never ends.

Take a step back. The main work of Girlfriends 4 Ever lasts something like 20 minutes. I will honestly say: I have never actually figured out how long it is, because the player doesn’t tell you the running time, and I have never watched the full thing from start to finish in one sitting. I have seen every part of it dozens and dozens of times. But I’ve never managed to ever let it play straight through. It is that good. There’s a scene in the first season of Weeds, where Kevin Nealon makes a joke about recommending a porno to his friend based on the assertion that he’s never finished it. I’m saying the same thing about G4E, but literally. It’s so long, and so good, that you fill up on it.

It’s like 20 minutes, and the level of effort is stupendously monumental. By now you’ve probably noticed that my grammar and spelling are pretty good. Like, I’m obviously a literate person. Maybe even a nerd, but the genuinely-educated kind. But at first you didn’t think that, because I misspelled “articulate.” It’s a bigger-than-average word and not everybody even knows it, and a lot of people who know it mispronounce it when they use it in conversation. And the way I miswrote it revealed to you exactly how I mispronounce it. Maybe you were ready to start imagining what my voice might sound like. “This guy is really actually a meticulous bastard who will never make a mistake, because he will scrutinize that shit crazy hard.” When will this guy finally give up trying to make sure everything is exactly perfect? Think what you want about me, but Miro’s answer to that question is obviously “never.” You knew it in the first 30 seconds, and there’s like 39 more of those (or more if it’s more than 20 mins).

Miro psychoanalyzed his audience ahead-of-time in exactly the same way I’ve just psychoanalyzed you. Even if the places I went didn’t feel natural to you, the depth probably stood out. Imagine how “meta” I must be in order to have planned that. It’s not unthinkable — I didn’t write Adapation — but it stood out. The degree of understanding demonstrated by Miro in the planning, writing, animation, and overall execution of Girlfriends 4 Ever is as severe as I just demonstrated — and you probably think I’m so meticulous as to be extremely obnoxious. Miro did exactly the kind of work you’d expect of someone with that level of dedication and obsession and perfectionism, but he (they?) actually literally produced it instead of just hoping or even imagining it. This is the 3rd standard deviation, and when the culture is *whatever*-enough to warrant academic study, it will stand out on any timeline is a Cambrian-magnitude achievement.

So here’s the part that blew my mind. At this point, I’m already losing my mind by imagining what might theoretically happen. I like futa more than straight-up lesbian, but even if these chicks just lick each other in one more loop, I will totally bust on this a few times. (Last para, I made a grammatical mistake on purpose.)

After that each character strips indlugently, several times in immediate succession, each time slower than the last to give the real connoisseure an opportunity to not only savor it but learn how it is best savored. This pattern repeats itself throughout: a careful attention to present each segment in way that cultivates an appreciative mind. I’ve been looking at pornography in exactly this genre for 20+ years and I learned something about scripted pornography and myself the first time I watched this. I’ve spent the better part of the last year looking for that example I used with the word “articulate.”

After they each strip to the totally-enjoyable meat-market club music, the hot blonde one actually does a really good job of seducing the kind-of-sultry brunette. I really like that lace dress. This is good lingerie. Whoever made this thing really has good taste in “practical” lingerie. I really like this guy’s taste. I hope I get to see each of them in several different outfits. I hope they all strip over and over again. It would be great if they stripped together, but I’ll take just the stripping, especially if she keeps talking.

That was a weird slip: the one said “blowjob.” That’s not what lesbians do. Neither of these girls has a bulge. I know, because I looked. If you’re going to do dickgirl stuff, you’re supposed to signal it with a bulge. The really good futa stuff takes some time before it introduces the bulge. You’re supposed to telegraph it if you’re futa.

I’m going to make this short: I want to actually watch it again. The blonde seduces the brunette. They both have hot, Japanese-sex-doll names. They both have their own sexy voices. They’re reading from some kind of script, like a real one. Like, if JOss Whedon were writing porn. Not early in the Buffy days — think sophisticated in exactly the way Cabin in the Woods is sophisticated. It is a movie written by someone who has seen all the same horror films you have seen, and who really loves horror enough that they’ve started to distinguish between “good” and “bad” horror. But instead of being a horror movie, or some tentacle stuff, it’s really indulgently-luxurious futanari.

The really hot blonde one flashes a hand-signal to the camera. Whoever wrote this is breaking the fourth wall. Jesus Christ. This fucker is telling me that he has something to prove, but he’s easily the best I’ve ever seen already. Like, Spielberg/Jurrasic Park good.

“Some guy called Miro” — you are Quentin Tarantino for the porn-animation world. You are aggressively excellent, not only as a creator but an appreciator, at an unparalleled level of academic sophistication. If you pulled a Richard Bachman and published anything under a pseudonym, I would see it, and would instantly recognize your sign. Miro is quite literally an auteur, and self-consciously so.

After the author tells me through the hot blonde that I’m going to love this, he confirms my hope that this is a futa work. And then the hot babes actually spend some time making out.

Not to be churlish, but I’d hoped to watch them undress each other. Better yet, for the one to cleverly trick the other into seducing her.

A sidenote here. This is an instance where the distance between an animated work and a live-action work appears. If this were live-action, I think this director certainly would have filmed that. But it’s animated, which means that every frame, every still, every loop, every sample, must be *produced* artificially. Every frame had to be imagined and planned-for and then crafted in software. This is the sina qua non of all animations. Not even a naive director can fail to discover this aspect of their field. It is the *gravity* of animation-as-artifact. Ultimately, the total commitment and level of effort, the stamina requirement for an artist is a function of their decision how granular at which to represent the script.

I made a grammatical mistake a while ago. Just the one; it was on purpose. If you were clever — and if you were *trying* to be clever — you noticed it and formed an expectation that I would call attention to it. And then I kept writing but not talking about it and holy shit I bet this pompous blowhard actually let one slip and I found it on the first reading. What a dick.

I saw that coming. Obviously. As soon as I mentioned it, you knew I was finally fulfilling the implicit promise I’d made in that seemingly-unanswered mistake. Consider now how *relentlessly* meta I am. Miro does this same thing in the way the film has been packaged. I’ll describe it in detail in a second, but my immediate thought is that I find this to be an astonishing development in the evolution of porn. Or of self-gratification. Or jesus, how *meta* is that guy? Like, on what historical scale does he situate himself? When I think about it, I realize that Miro was making a concious decision about where he was going to land, and he decided to place himself on the very top of history-to-date. This is how Steve Jobs operated, for good or for fill. I mean “ill.”

Miro consistently telegraphs the storyboard through the narrator, who is the extremely sexy blonde. But he does it in a way that is extremely well-suited to the activithy of masturbating to G4E. This is porn, and Miro knows it, and not only has he made the best animation we’ve ever seen, he’s planned masturbatory affordances into it. There is a lot of repetition in G4E; I think this is driven less by cost-aversion than by a sophisticated interest in providing the phenomenological equivalent of compact disc servoamplification. It’s a rollercoaster, but in the shooter-on-rails sense instead of the ups-and-downs sense.

In short: Girlfriends 4 Ever is the most excellently self-conscious pornographic animation ever produced, and it’s evident that no expense was spared in its production (a la Hammond).

After the girls make out, we watch the brunette’s erection grow. The blonde tells us what she’s about to do, and actually describes it in detail, and she makes it very easy to believe that it really happened to her. She is extremely convincing. This voice actress is crazy good. If she ever does any other vocal work, I’ll buy it without question. Do you hear that, animators? If you released a handful of crappy stills, I would still buy it an any price if the combination of the written narrative and the voice work was this exactingly good.

So she blows the brunette, and then the brunette is violently fucking her face. It looks impossible, but it’s so obviously happening right now. And then they’re in a kind of missionary. The transitions between each of these shots aren’t animated. I think this is another concession to gravity. Have you ever seen it when a long-distance runner finally starts to tire? Like when you see the cheetah begin slowing down in slow-motion on the Discovery channel. I think that’s what is happening each time Tara describes something that we don’t see. These are things the writer envisioned, and then labored to make real, but cut in favor of other segments deemed more important. In Girlfriends 4 Ever, these second-rate segments rank among the best writing ever seen on Literotica.com. And Miro thought of these segments as chaff rather than wheat, and sacrificed them to appease gravity and continue climbing into the sky.

You don’t get to see what it looked like when Sayako got Tara into position, and slotted her gigantic “vascular cock” in Tara’s opening, and then began to pound her. I think the writer absolutely thought through those sequences, and would have worked with the animator to render them faithfully, if only the gravity weren’t so strong.

At the same time, these concessions are notably less-frequent than in any other animated work I’ve ever seen. Miro’s perfectionism runs to the masochistic. When I describe G4E as “indulgent,” this is the sense I intend. Miro is a spendthrift in storyboard-footage terms. This is the most-costly dimension along which to excel, and this is unequivocally a record-breaking effort.

The women jump between several positions. The transitions are not shown, but the narrator still takes the time to tease us in navigating them. Each position is rendered in several segments, at different speeds, and always with original spoken dialogue or moaning. Over the course of the feature, more and more segments are missing entirely. It appears that Miro’s legendary stamina was ultimately overcome by gravity just like a runner must eventually give out in exhaustion: in truth, some expense was spared, and the litter on the cutting-room floor is predominantly from the later portions.

There’s a pretty good cumshot. Tara warns you about it pretty explicitly. This is servo-coding at its most visible. Anyone who has developed a preference as to when they finally cum while watching animation for pornographic purposes is consistently well-served. Miro telegraphs each phase of the sex, luxuriating in each and then describing it in erotic retrospect before moving onto the next. This is what I mean when I say that Girlfriends 4 Ever is uniquely sophisticated. Miro makes it really easy for you to plan your orgasm with respect to the timeline. It’s very difficult to excel in this dimension because the artist must first discover it as part of their own sexuality. Only after they have become aware of this aspect of porn-as-tool can they envision serving it. This is awesome.

There are several different positions, and some unexpected but welcome dickgirl POV. And then, through the wet-sounding candy-lipstick voice of this blonde harlot, the god of this universe asks me what I want next. That’s basically the end. It’s a pornographic, crowd-sourced cliffhanger.

This is the 3rd standard deviation. It is better than 99.7300204% of all works available in its era. It is legendary, like Chinatown and Goodfellas, and like Jenna Jameson and Sasha Grey. People who hate this stuff know about it.

I’m writing this now, on the eve of the release of Miro’s follow-up work, because I want to speak to the artist who has anticipated the experience of his audience with the care of an anthropologist. This post is part review, part documentary criticism. At least one person has detected that you’re playing games on all these levels at once. This is a partial catalogue of the pornographic strategies G4E deploys, and a critique of their effectiveness. Nobody out there is both this meta and this good at the same time.

I also hope to clarify precisly how high the bar has been raised. Like the rest of you, I am anxious to see the forthcoming DLC. But in case it’s not as good as the original, there can be no doubt that this critique is not warped by hindsight. This is my attempt to make a faithful record of its qualitative excellence along all dimensions. There are only 27 days left on this side of history. My temporal credentials are unimpeachable.

I fear that an artist’s stamina can never entirely be restored after such a feat. I will be looking to see whether the granularity, the completeness of the imagining, is on par with the earliest parts of G4E. I bet it would be really easy to fall short in any of these creative dimensions, especially the ones that are not more-easily traveled by improved technology or brute force. If that happens, I hope I will call it out in much the same way. I hope to have established some credibility now that might be called upon later.

Incidentally, I think this was exactly the strategy behind the partnetship between Miro & Affect3D. This is what I mean when I describe Miro as savvy. He decisively established himself as the world-champion. Whether Miro treats the DLC as round two or a full second championship remains to be seen. Given that it’s been a full year, I hope it is the second.

A couple of quick questions for you Miro:
1.) Will the G4E thread in the forum re-open on the 24th? I believe I recall you said that you will re-open that thread once phase 2 starts, but it has been a very long time since then so maybe you’ve changed your plan.
2.) Do you have an idea what time of day you’ll be releasing the trailer and the DLCs? Also once the dates draw close, it would be nice for you to post an estimated time. I forget what time zone you’re in, it goes without saying that if you make the release late in the day (your time), it could mean many of us won’t see it until the following day. I can only imagine the shitstorm that will occur if that happens LOL.

Why can’t people occupy their time with other hobbies LOL *facepalm. Everyone gets so angry because you have to wait a bit longer. He’s running a business remember? It’s not just catered to you guys who paid for it, but he still has to advertise himself, the website, and other artists who he markets on here to generate more revenue. Dang, I was really hoping for a release schedule this update :*(. Your update from two weeks ago seemed to imply that was going to happen.
Ahh well, one more week won’t kill us. As long as this releases before the end of this month, I guess I’ll be content.
If this thing gets dragged out until November I’m going apeshit though. I keep feeling like we’re so close, but the finish line seems to get a step farther for every two steps we make toward it.
